@ray: For the red blocks appearing, there was a setting on sprite 197 that is named "never time out" if I remember correctly. Check it
And no, there's no way to make a moving stone platform appear with a switch. Only the sprites that have an "Activator ID" field can be activated by a switch.

You don't need to "open" the palette.

Open just the NCG file, then go to the menu: Palette->Import from->File
And select the NCL file.

Oh, true. I remember that...
You need to modify one of the XML files that come with TM... I think it was paletteformats.xml or something like that.

I'm busy right now, I'll look it up for you and post back in 1 or 2 hours

Cool...
It's the first time I see my name in here.

There are like 4 new users that are asking AGAIN the "standard" set of questions every new NSMB hacker asks...

I'm at nearly 1000 posts

Woah, just found out, scrolling up/down actually seems to work SOMEtimes. I can't seem so figure out when it does and when it doesn't, though. Putting a springboard in the level and jumping off of it seems to help, not sure about this, though.

You see the 16x16 block grid the editor displays when editing the level?
The camera will NEVER scroll into empty 16x16 blocks. You have two empty blocks (top left and top right) So if you want it to scroll upwards, you have to put something in them. Look at the original MvsL Ice World, for example: Each block has an invisible object in the top left corner of each block. That's used to make the camera scroll upwards.

Some other questions regarding multiplayer hacking:
As I don't have a second DS right now, I can't test the level in real mp. So I just export the mp level and import it to sp level 1-3. I can play it, but when Mario spawns, there are no pipes, he just spawns on the ground. Could that be a problem? Could my method produce any other problems?

Nope, that's perfectly normal. I also test MvsL levels copying them to single player levels.
The pipes only appear when you're playing the level in real MvsL mode, I don't know why. That's not a problem: when you test the level with 2 ds's you'll see they appear.

Yes.

DON'T use the "rotate image" function.
It screws up the image sometimes.

Also, keep in mind that the first color in the palette is transparent.

Okay, then do this:

- On the level chooser, select world 1-2a area 1 (That one because its camera settings work as we want it to)
- Click "Hex Edit"
- Select Block 2 (on the top)
- Select ALL and copy it (Control+C like in any text editor)
- Close the hex editor.

- Now select your level
- Click "Hex edit"
- Select Block 2
- Erase everything in the block
- Paste (Control+V)
- Save
- Close

It should work OK now
Hope it helps ...

Whoa...
Someone asked some time ago the same question.
The answer is not for now. The world map is 3d, and 3d stuff is much more complicated than a simple 2d level...
Maybe sometime in the future someone will implement a 3d model importer for NDS. Then, it could become doable.

I'm working on it right now. There is a huge bug that needs fixing, and after that, i'll need to fix plenty of other bugs, and after that, i'll have to test that everything works right...

And yeah, that question has been asked hundreds of times

When you're finished, save your graphics in Tile Molester.
Then, go back to NSMB Editor, go to the file browser.
Select the file d_2d_A_J_jyotyu_ncg.bin
Click Replace File
select the file you have just edited with TM
Then click LZ Compress.

Then you should have your new GFX inserted, and they should show up in both the editor and the game

The texture editor is NOT finished, it simply doesn't work properly yet.

For the new graphics editor, you need to open the NCG and afterwards the corresponding NCL and click "Add all".
Then you'll see the list of images and palettes.

You may also want to chechout r129. Now graphics importing works properly. (EDIT: the 2d ones, not the 3d ones)

@neoREgen: Nope, it's not possible. You NEED to download the rom and apply the patch.
Yes, it's sort-of-illegal, but everybody does it.

@NsmB_PrO: 3D texure editing still doesn't work properly so that's normal. What works now is 2d texture editing: _ncg.bin and _ncl.bin files

Yeah, it sucks. Sometimes I got my server eat up 100% of the CPU and not responding at all for no reason, sometimes it just shuts down.

I'm using this little script in my server. It makes a backup each hour, and also makes the server save-all before backup, which is cool. If you modify it you can get it to save-all regularly without backups too.

BTW, it looks like we're getting PvP next week!

Hm...
I don't know yet how the autoscroll works. You also have to put some data in the nodes of the paths, but I don't know what it means.
The easiest way to create an autoscroll level for now is copying one of the original autoscrolling levels and delete everything in it but the autoscroll sprite and path.
