yeah. I think so.
But lava has some more data. Once in a level, my lava looked like lava but behaved like water. you could swim on it. Has anyone seen this too, and knows how to fix it? |

Yeah, good question.
That's because Treeki and i dont know how to really compress files. Actually we use a "fake" compress, which means that it doesnt compress the data, it makes it bigger, but when the game decompresses it, it gets back the original data so it works. |

What music are you using?
Some "weird" musics that are not used normally in game (such as the title screen music or the multiplayer one) make some sounds disappear. Try other sound sets. For example, the multiplayer song of grassland doesnt work with normal sound sets, but works with sound set 6. Try others... |

yeah, exactly.
Does anyone know why is it happening?
Another weird effect with lava and water is that if you put that beta water from jyoytu in world 1 Castle (and probably other levels that contain lava too) it behaves like lava: you die when you touch it... |

Hmm.
So you have a way to really compress files? Please tell me what it is!
And the batch import/export would be hard to do... because there's no way to reliably determine if a file is compressed, they have no special header. You can just try to decompress it and see if it makes any errors... And even sometimes not compressed data can be decompressed! |

Hmmm... Cool initiative.
What about custom tilesets? We should decide what tilesets to use before people starts making levels, because if not we'll have to fix them manually... |

I know it's possible. i'm not sure with what sprite. You probably have to create a zone for it...
Look at world 2 castle area 2 and at world 5 - last level (not sure of the number, it is the one with raising/lowering mushrooms) |

No... I mean that you say you have a program to actually compress files. What is it?
Originally posted by jceggbert5 Perhaps we should make a database... I can give you lots(?) of info on the obj folder... (I'm still working on my list though, I am about 1/3 done...)
I am listing the files/graphics, compressed or not, used palette, and codec needed to view image...
Hmmm... I think it will be rather pointless, because in future versions of the editor you'll be able to just double-click files and edit them in the editor itself. At least basic things like textures (2d and 3d), narc files, etc...
Edit: Oops. Quotes! |

I dont think so...
You place them manually, but the game only renders them if you're near them, to save processing power. |

Well...
Editing graphics? Yes, it is possible. You need to extract the file for it and edit it. If it's a 3d sprite, the textures will be editabe in the next version.
About editing behavior... I dont think its possible for now. NSMB's sprite system is pretty much unknown. |

yeah.
Well, I have done something similar for the pipes, and it works quite well... You export all the images with all the palettes. Then the user edits them, and has to copy the same image with all the palettes, and he can colorize it like he wants. |

Maybe your ROM is broken.
Try importing it into a very clean rom and test it on no$gba and flashcart. |

I can add some stuff about NSMB DS. Could I get an account?
Thx. |

No idea. I have never tried it.
It is stored as a 16bit int, so the theoretical maximum would be 65536. but i dont know if the game likes more than 3 digits in the time... Test it! |

yeah. cool idea.
If you still have a copy of the broken level, you can try copying back block by block and see what block is causing trouble... And once you know what block is, you can try to see what byte is...
It will definitely help to improve the editor because it seems its breaking the levels sometimes... |
