yeah, it works.
So, right now you're able to play with ds download play with only one flashcart, provided it can boot that firmware...
cool.

yeah. Changing Mario's 3d model, changing it to 2d, or making new powerups has to be done by ASM hacking (modifying the game's code), but it requires at first knowing how it works... I sometimes try to figure out suff but i dont get very far. What I have done in ASM is just "lock" roms so they are no longer editable, and replace the nintendo logo at the beginning with a completely custom image (on only one screen though, i think i have to improve it...)

dont count on it. at least for now...

narc editing (already done) and 3d texture modification (i'm on it right now). I'm not sure if i will get it to support all textures in game, because a big part of the textures in nsmb (including Mario's and bosses and world maps) are compressed in a very weird way that i dont know how editable they are... and i'm still finding out how to display them correctly...

Yes, it is a stupid question.

Of course, if you edit the levels, and follow the instructions at the other MvsL hacking thread, it will work as long as you both have the same ROM.

that function is related to spritedata.txt
That file contains all data for all sprites. Check that you have it in the same dir than your editor, and that it is not empty. If that does not help, you can try downloading the old version that worked for you (you can find it on the google code thing, under deprecated downloads) and get its spritedata.txt.

Dont know if i missed it in the new zip. will try to look at it...

cool!
thanks...

Maybe i've been thinking that to better organise the sprite data stuff. Maybe sth like he has done with NSMBWii: an online sprite database where people can intuitively put in all sprite data, and then it can export automatically to the spritedata.txt file (well, in Reggie it's an XML, but its the same).

Maybe I'll ask him for the php script. but then i'd have to adapt it to NSMBe

- The official levels (for example 1-1) have three entrances because of Mega Mario. Get Mega Mario in world 1-1 and jump on a pipe from THE TOP. it will not break, but it will be pushed down a bit. Same if you jump again. It is done like that so you can still enter the pipe after pushing it down.

- No. You have to put it in the top / left of the pipe end, to the pixel exactitude. Hold shift and drag the entrance to make it snap to a 8x8 pixel grid so it's easier to place.

- Pipes at 53 and around are unbreakable with Mega Mario. The 102 ones are breakable.
If you combine two pipes of both types, only the 102 part will be breakable, and the other will stay with the broken pipe look.

- I used to know what the entranceSetting16 was, but somehow the name got lost in the language file and it doesnt show up anymore. (in old versions it did) I'll try to remember what it was and put it back...

Hope i make it clear...

It's awesome!!

Though there are two things that could be improved:
- Did you do the pipe at the beginning with a 155 sprite? It's a bit weird. Maybe what you could do is to make a hole and put the 155 sprite there, and when mario falls in it it goes to the underground level falling from the top.

- At the end it is too easy to gt the 1up of the flagpole. Maybe you could make the platform not go so high, so you have to jump at the right moment to get it?

cool!

Check that in Level Config you have put midway entrance to the ID of the entrance you put next to the midway point.
Check that the view of the entrance is set correctly...

Posted on 01-31-10 08:33:30 AM, in Question about lava/water Link
Yes, it is.

Create a zone where you want the water to be activated.
Create a "activate activator on event" sprite to that sprite id. (Look at World 8 Castle at the end or at Castle 1-1 of Hard Super Dario Bros for examples)
Create the water. Make it so that when you activate the activator it rises. I put the sprite data for it in the sprite data thread.

I'm not sure if the acceleration is possible. i dont think so.

For now, no emulators can emulate NDS wifi features. So the only way to test multiplayer levels is with two real DS's.

Sorry.
