I can't get Tile Molester to work. I get "No language files found. Please check your installation." What do I do?

OK, I got JRE to finish downloading, but now when I open "tm" it says that there is no language files found... Help?

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it to work.

Posted on 10-17-09 02:07:51 PM, in how to make my custom menu picture ? Link
Originally posted by dirbaio
I found out how to do it!!!

The title screen files are in the uiStudio folder, concretely in the UI_O_menu_title_log_u_ncg.bin files. In the US ROM you only have one for english, but in the EU rom you have one for each language. The title screen logo doesn't change on language, so all these files are the same, but you'll have to overwrite them all in order to your hack to work on the DSs of all languages.
Its format is 4bpp reverse order (like much things in that folder)

It is COMPRESSED, so you have to LZ DECOMPRESS it before editing it. and COMPRESS it after reinserting it.

->So Decompress and extract it.
->Open it with Tile Molester. Under Codec, select 4bpp reverse-order. You should see the image. The image is tiled, so you can't see the whole image, but you can edit the tiles. Note that some stuff is repeated, the logo in the bottom is put on top of the logo on the top. Don't know why. Edit the second, or both. I couldn't find the palette for it, so you'll have to edit it with strange colors.
->Edit it!!!!
->Save it!!!!
->Back with NSMBe4, reinsert the graphics file and compress it. If you have the E rom, reinsert it in the several files, and compress them all. Be careful not to compress the same file twice!
->Try. Good luck!

This works, I have done it for a hack I'm making. You have a video of the edited title screen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnoCuVbRtpI
I replaced New Super Mario Bros with Hard Super Dario Bros (my name's Dario )

When I try it, Tile Molester starts loading but stays at 0%. :l

Meh, my computer just updated itself yesterday, i'm not sure if it installed the newest version of Java while doing it, but i'll check if I have the latest.

EDIT: Yeah, it doesn't work. :l And is there even a new version of TM?

This thing is getting pretty amazing, but what about editing Mario's texture?

I downloaded this version and worked fine for me: http://www.zophar.net/utilities/graphutil/tile-molester.html
but do you have the Sun JVM or the MicroSoft JVM? Download the Sun one, works for me.

Did you download the binary or source one?

I tried binary, but it said it didn't have any language files, so I downloaded source and mixed the 2 folders together. But it still stays at 0% when it starts to load. (Also, I can't do anything to the TM loading window when it's doing that...) It COULD just be a Vista problem.

I guess that would be the way to go. I don't want 20 Tile Molester windows that I can't close.

Um, noobish question but why can I export the backgrounds with no problems but not tilesets? Also if it's the "WRONG SIZE, FUCK YOU" then what IS the right size?

It's not importing, it's exporting. I accidentally imported something that looks like crap as tiles and i'm trying to replace it with the original by taking it from a clean ROM. But I can't seem to do that...

The problem with importing / exporting is that you first have to select the file you want to import / export to, and its path will go to the text box, and after click import or export. Yeah, I know, it's tricky. I really dont know why i coded it that way, but now i realize it's idiot. Next version will have that improved...

That only works with exporting, it seems. When I try it with importing, it says " The given was not present in the dictionary." Which is strange, because importing was the only thing that used to work for me.

Cool. Those import/export buttons really help. There's no errors, if that's what you meant.

I was surprised this topic hasn't already been made, so I made it. Even though this may be a stupid idea...

So you just post your custom tilesets here for others to use.
