Oh... well, I was talking about Norwegian roads. I really don't think there's a road in Norway with the number 666...

Ok, scratch that. A search showed that there actually is. Atleast according to the Norwegian wikipedia:

http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riksvei_666

Haha, I need to go there.

Looked pretty bad for Galveston, I must say.

And now it's inland as a tropical depression, but is forecast to re-strengthen to a tropical storm before passing over Canada. What the... ?

As far as I know, a tropical system needs to be over waters...and warm ones at that to strengthen.. Surely, those lakes up there can't be enough!?

I'd like to know the reasoning behind this one... this doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me!

*edit: Well, they're expecting it to turn extratropical, and then reintensify after the transition has been made. A horizontal temperature gradient is then the most likely cause.

They couldn't take his gun, because the threat wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. (That's what I heard.)

But it seems now that there might be some serious political debate about the gun laws in Finland. As far as I've heard, they're slightly more strict than the US, but more lenient then, say, Norway, or any of the other Nordic countries.

I've also heard that murder and suicide rates (and perhaps crime rates in general) are higher in Finland then any of the other Nordic countries. I don't think that the blame for this can be put on just the gun laws, but I'm not going to speculate to much about it. I don't know much about how the Finnish society works.

But I find it odd for it to happen twice within just a time period of about a year, in such a relatively small country (not that much bigger than Norway, about the size of Denmark, and smaller than Sweden, population wise.)

I don't know, it feels kind of empty right now.

Oh, well, or there's always this girl. I'm not sure what to call it, but she's nice and we get along well. Though she has a boyfriend, but he lives far away. I suppose I'm evil for considering it. Of course, I wouldn't do anything stupid. She'll go away for half a year this spring anyway (sort of like an exchange student), and my current plan is that I'll do just the same the following autumn (we'll actually go to the same place, but I can't (or won't) go during spring, because I don't like the subjects they offer then) so either way we won't see each other for a year.

Funny thing is, we've been studying the same thing for almost 2,5 years, and I noticed her just now. Or something like three weeks ago.

Do I sound like a moron, or do I just think that I do?

Oh, and I'm also thinking of next Friday's october party. Big fucking glasses of cheap liquid goodness!

Clouds and shit. Have to write a paper about feedback mechanisms of climate change. Of course, it's interesting, really. Otherwise I wouldn't be studying this.. but now it's Saturday, damnit!

Weather has been crap all week. Lows have been 'battering' the Norwegian west coast quite alot lately. Right now it's, of course, lots of wind and rain. Sucks to go outside.

Autumn is definately here....

Here is my result:

Moral Order: -3
Moral Rules: 2

1. System: Socialism
2. Ideology: Social Democratism
3. Party: No match.
4. Presidents: Jimmy Carter
5. 04' Election: David Cobb
6. 08' Election: Barrack Obama

Of the 494,755 respondents (6,328 on Facebook):

1. 10% are close to you.
2. 54% are more conservative.
3. 10% are more liberal.
4. 10% are more socialist.
5. 8% are more authoritarian

Not very surprising, really, except that I seem to be more conservative than what I thought.

I don't check this place often, but it often seems to be that you would somehow be talking about the weather when I do.

Weather here hasn't been interesting. More like calm and nice, of course, that is a preferred kind of weather as well. It's been pretty cold too, went down into freezing during the night. Right now, at about 8 o'clock it's 3,5 degrees Celsius, so it's gone back to positive, but only slightly.

Hasn't been any real snowfall just yet, and it's not really that common out here on the Norwegian west coast, as the climate is pretty wet and mild. There were a little hint of snow earlier this week (don't remember the day), but as expected nothing that sticked. It usually melts right when it hits the ground.

Also, tomorrow I'll be cooking and eating the infamous western Norwegian dish of Smalahove (Basically salted boiled sheep's head) and then proceed to empty the isobar.... (that is a pun, yes.)

Reaching the conclusion that any change in radiative forcing will lead to a change in temperature to achieve a new equilibrium in the net radiation at the top of the atmosphere. (Rtoa = S0/4(1 - αp) - Ftoa(∞)). Hooray for climate science. Soon, beer.

...will probably the Madrugada concert tonight. On their last tour ever just now, as it would seem. And maybe the march to protest against nazism on the eve of the crystal night.

But so far it has been earlier today when I cleaned my room. It feels good to have a clean room... I should do this more often.

If it would've been 90 degrees here, I would've been 10 degrees from boiling.

...

Here, it's 3,5 degrees now. Not to cold, though I'd prefer it to be a little milder. However, given the season, that would usually mean clouds, wind and rain, which is worse.

...anyway, I really do think it would be easier if everyone would just stick to the SI units. It's a pet peeve of mine everytime I see people talking about fahrenheits, ounces, pounds, miles per hour, or other such shit things. Damn you.

American textbooks are stupid.

I hear you. Have it rain on top of that, and you'll have loads of fun. Was like that here a few days ago.

I came home to my parents (in Northern Norway) on the 13th, and since then it's gone from snow, ice, almost bare, to snow again. Atleast this snow is forecast to last to the 25th,or something around there, when the temperature will rise and it will start to rain again. Atleast we'll have snow on Christmas Eve. It seems to continuously alternate between snow, ice and rain. Just like last christmas, and the one before that...

I remember a time when we got snow usually by the beginning of, or mid-november, which lasted until april. Doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Of course, there could be occasional mild spells also then, but usually not year after year.

Western and southern parts of Norway won't get any snow at all this christmas, except for up in the mountains. Though the coastal areas of western Norway usually doesn't get that much snow anyway, but southeastern Norway usually gets plenty. Or usually got plenty?

I live in what I would call a dorm, and I don't mind it that much.

What you call room mates, I'd call kitchen mates. I suppose you don't actually share your room with them...

Of course, we do have to share kitchen and bathroom facilities. It's worked pretty fine, except for just lately when someone that belongs to another kitchen started stealing our food. So now we lock the kitchen door whenever we're not around, and the problem is solved. It's kind of a hassle to have to unlock and lock the door when you want something in the kitchen, though.

Also, where I live is really cheap, and it's only a 20 - 25 minute walk away from campus. Or, well, this university doesn't really have a well defined campus, it's spread all over the downtown area of this town; but atleast my institute (geophysical) is a 25 minute walk away. If I were to study law, it would be more practical to go by bus, as it is the one farthest away from where I live.

And of course, there's a pub in the basement, where I work from time to time (four times a year... for free, of course, but not without special benefits.) I like it, it's lots of fun. So I don't really want to move just yet..

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
