I guess working out the secure authentication would take less time than hacking each game to support custom servers.[/obvious]
I'm really thinking of the DLC available that would disappear. I know WarioWare D.I.Y has been archived but not anything else to my knowledge (like Mario VS Donkey Kong Levels).

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (free for a limited time with a 3DS-Linked Nintendo ID). I recommend it for the extra modes.

Recently I had a multi-part dream. One part of it was about tracking down the company who made a NSMB demo cartridge (Yep, New Super Mario Bros. again.). Strangely, it was made by a company other than Nintendo and its office was some kind of haunted house. The house didn't actually contain any ghosts, and there seemed to be no reason for me to be scared. I ended in a claustrophobic factory type room, which contained "the boss" of the company.

NintendoPlayer doesn't actually have the cart, the proto-owner just happened to release some off-screen screen-shots and information about it. Or am I missing something?

There is a public exploit for the Wii U, which allows some RAM hacking.
There are flash cards for the 3DS which run homebrew which allows some RAM dumping.
Everything else is not released, but they brag about document it on 3DBrew.

With such knowledge of complicated encryption methods, surely they could encrypt the playing of commercial roms you do not own?
