Okay well. I've already posted my desktop before (and it's almost identical) so you get to see my various VM desktops! I'm THAT bored.
I was going to post this in the desktops thread, but Xk flipped a coin in IRC and told me to make a new thread for it. So there. You get to stalk all (or almost all) my virtual machines!

DOS 6.22/GEM: I totally forgot I had this. (Virtual PC 2007)

Windows 3.1: Hey look, it's Jul! Opera 3.62 renders it pretty well for such an old browser. (Virtual PC 2007)

Windows 3.1 again: Different VM. This one is spiffed up with a lot of addon programs (hence 3D windows, Calmira, etc) but not much else. IE5 is sheer excellence. (Virtual PC 2007)

Windows 95: I wish I could get Internet on this. TCP/IP is screwed up for some reason, no idea how to fix it. (Virtual PC 2004)

Windows 98 FE: Not much here really. I mostly just downloaded and installed this for memories from my first computer. That's also why I have Office 97 on it. You get to see Clippy! (Virtual PC 2007)

Windows 98 SE: I rarely use this one. I used it to play Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 though, and back when I first made the VM, I used it to try out various unofficial Win98 enhancement/compatibility upgrades because I was bored (here if you're interested) (VMWare 6.5)

Windows XP (1): One of my oldest. Really trashed - it's had FlyakiteOSX installed, various other enhancement programs, and I also use it to test out keygens/cracks to make sure they won't fuck up my main computer. Sorry for the JPG quality, it was 900kb as a PNG due to the background. (VMWare 6.5)

Windows XP (2): This one started out life when I wanted to mess with a pirated version of WindowBlinds and Object Desktop and a few other things and see just how much I could make it look like Vista - hence the VM name "XPWBtest". Now it's just used for playing Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 (Because it doesn't work on my Windows 98 VM with RCT1) (VMWare 6.5)

Windows Vista: No screenshot. It takes up to 5 minutes to boot (and sometimes doesn't work) and slows down every single thing on my computer (including itself), while a VM with XP, 7 or OS X runs smoothly. Says something about Vista doesn't it? (VMWare 6.5)

Windows 7 Beta: Well, it's not the official public beta, it's build 6801, but close enough. I love how even with the Superbar it still has Quick Launch. (VMWare 6.5)

Windows 7 RC1: is pretty much all I can say. Can't wait until I can put the final Win7 on my real computer. (VMWare 6.5)

Mac OS X Leopard: Surprised this one still worked. It's REALLY screwed up - rebooting completely messes it up; I have to keep a saved state of it running all the time. I wish I could use Path Finder on Windows; it's the best file manager I've ever used. (JPG again) (VMWare 6.5)

Only ones not listed were just generic crap that barely even works (random DOS tests, OS/2, broken OS X Tiger, etc).

Anyway, this was supposed to be just for my own at first, but I made it into a full thread. Yes, I feel like stalking your non-real PCs too, so post them.

Wow. You like your VM's don't you?
I don't have any to post, but quoted for 404

Fixed it earlier, I'm stupid.

And yes, I do. I have others (mostly various Linux variants) but I didn't post them because I was just lazy.

Right now I'm not eating anything, even though I'm hungry. Can't find anything to eat. My mother is asleep so I can't bug her to look for something either.

Off-topic (and kind of stupid sounding): I feel like hugging Snorlax whenever I look at my avatar. :3

Eating uh.. I dunno if it has a proper name, but my mother makes it sometimes and it's good. It's like chicken soup with mashed potatoes in it.

In before this thread increases pizza sales by an extremely unnoticeable tiny margin.

How do you have space for all those VMs, Treeki? My laptop is almost full with just two. (Tried Windows 7 beta but laptop didn't like it.)

Small HD sizes, especially for the older OSes. Some of them are pretty oversized though... I have a 500GB hard drive, but I've also got almost 80gb in photos, almost 100gb in torrents, and a lot of other crap which takes up a lot of space.

Anyway, right now I'm eating a kit-kat icecream my mother bought at the supermarket. It's pretty good.

I'm not entirely sure about putting mashed potatoes of all things into soup, but...I guess I'd have to take your word for it!

Well, it's not exactly soup like what you'd typically expect (think etc), although my mother calls it that (I guess it's made similarly?). Like I said I'm not really sure how to explain what it is.

So can digital cameras. Both physically (with lenses) and digitally.

I hate digital zoom with a passion. Just distorts the photo way too much to be worth it at all. I wish they would increase the optical zoom and do away with the digital crap all together.

This is why I love my camera. It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ6, it has 12x optical zoom.

Place it exactly at the bottom left. (Make sure the X and Y are divisible by 16 - I'm not sure if the game needs completely exact positioning, but I'm pretty sure it does)

What really helps for stuff like this is taking a look at levels which have already done what you want to do.

Thats not my problem (are you talking about entrances?). When i play it back it no$gba and i go forward then jump into the water and then the camera goes strange it mostley does not let mario go past but it does if i swim mario down lower the camera sort of flickers backwards and forwards and lets me past.

I just want sombody to fix it so the camera moves smoothly to the end of the level with the pipe and the blocks.

my email is [nuked]

and awnsers to my other questions?

or just upload and put a link to it on this thread

That quote was referring to m64m's problem, not yours.

The camera stuff is pretty glitchy, especially in 1-2 - I'd recommend that you find a level with similar camera data to whatever you want to do, export it and replace 1-2 with it.
If you don't want to lose your level design, go to the File Browser, export "course\A02_1_bgdat.bin", replace the level and reimport "course\A02_1_bgdat.bin" - you might need to reposition stuff, but all your objects will be there (not sprites or entrances, though).

... ahaha good luck you'll need it.

File Browser => bg_ncg => have fun. Every file with "tikei" in the name there contains the graphics for a tileset, although they're compressed using LZ77. Use Tile Molester to read them (codec 4bpp reverse-order).

Tileset editing is pretty confusing :| Note that editing those files will only let you edit the graphics, nothing else. Everything else is even more of a pain. Palettes are in the bg_ncl folder (also compressed).

NSMB's graphics are compressed - you won't see anything in Tile Molester.

Download Tahaxan. Use it to extract the graphics files (they're in the bg_ncg and obj folders). It will automatically detect which are compressed. Note that Tahaxan's inbuilt graphics viewer won't work for most of NSMB's graphics, so don't bother with it.

The code m64m pasted doesn't do anything for the graphics, but it allows you to use the palettes. Palettes are _ncl.bin files (the ones for backgrounds and tilesets are in bg_ncl).

Two decent custom levels for NSMB - are pigs flying? Most of the levels I see are pretty terrible.

These are quite nice, but a few of the deathtraps bug me (like the area where you must jump through a 3-tile-wide space with a Buzzy Beetle). You should make more.

The small black border around the touchscreen on my DS lite came off about a week after I got it. It doesn't bug me much, but you can see the circuit board underneath.

It also takes a lot of effort to get it to recognise a game sometimes (especially older games). Blowing in the cartridge slot NES-style helps.

Other than that, I can't really think of anything that's broken on me..

By "jumble of colours" do you mean the palette being wrong, or not being able to see the graphics?

If so, make sure you decompressed the file (extracting it with Tahaxan makes it easy to do)

Click on the toolbar buttons with the 3 lines and left/right arrows to adjust the wrapping width. (Not sure how to explain it, they're the 11th and 12th buttons on the toolbar)

To compress them, reinsert them with the editor and click the "Compress LZ" button. (It's not true compression, since I'm not sure how to write a compression algorithm - in fact it makes the file bigger than the uncompressed version. It will work fine in the game though, and NSMB has so much free space that you wouldn't need to worry at all.)

The characters are compressed and 3D - you won't be able to edit them in TM.

Aligning has nothing with the codec. The codec defines how bytes and colours are read.

To be honest, I don't really remember if there's even a way to align the entire A_J_jyotyu graphics file correctly. Editing it will still be fine, though.
