Social deficiency / awkwardness certainly does suck. I don't have Asperger's, but I have problems with it myself. Mine's related to bullying though in early childhood, I've always felt I was "different" from the other kids, like I was weird, or inferior. Psychologist says it will take me a while to deal with this all, it's been recognised as one of the "core beliefs" about myself.

While mine's a learned behaviour (or lack of behaviours I should have learned), I can certainly empathise with the social awkwardness. Regardless of the reasons, it tends to suck to have trouble socialising with others.

So how did you feel about the Astrology / Chinese Astrology ones?

Personally I did find it interesting that you can see at a glance what most people are / are not. I also found it interesting that I could see right away that nobody was born in the Year of the Snake.

See, I don't see any problem with the topics, really. Silliness comes and goes—I don't see a point in having a moderator "clean up" every time things get a bit silly. Things will return to "normal" again and the threads will disappear on their own all in time.

Course, I don't see the point of too much control over a forum in general. Of course I agree that there needs to be some, to keep control of obvious things like abuse, harassment, flaming, etc, but a little silliness? Naww... it will pass.

I guess so. Although I still don't see too much of a point moderating it. If people think it's getting out of hand, we can simply boycott the silly threads in question. Then they will die on their own.

Although I chose not to boycott the threads because I've been feeling a bit nutty / bored. Work is DULL today.

One of the things pointed out by my psychologist is that a person's "core beliefs" about themselves are usually formed in childhood, although rarely as late as adolescence. Once the core beliefs are formed, it can be very difficult to challenge them, and if they are unhealthy they can lead to problems such as excessive anger, depression, etc.

Social awkwardness really sucks though either way. It's hard to challenge whatever the reason is behind it. Although I do recognise that my situation is different to that experienced by those with Asperger's—I understand it's much harder to challenge the issue then. For some people it's simply not possible to overcome, only to improve with.

But this isn't really on the topic of Autism or Asperger's now. Social problems can occur for any number of reasons and perhaps should go in another thread.

I got an email about this today at work. Hmm... I'm not sure I'd have ever done it. I've accidentally glued myself to myself before and it was not comfortable.

I'd rather feign illness?

One of the guys who works here was wondering if losing a limb was a good enough excuse not to go to work. Maybe I will suggest that he glue himself to something instead?

Apparently, because you seem to be posting 'differently'.

I'm also hopped up on really really strong coffee It's my first coffee since mid-November too.

And yay, I get to go home now. Return to your normal activities, nothing to see here.

I would just like to complain that my modem is currently connecting at all of 64kbps. If it connects at all that is—I'm not always that lucky.

I've been having problems since the 21st December 2007. The problems have not been getting better, in fact now they're the worst they've ever been! I just logged a line fault.

Hopefully Telstra will fix the problem. Although in my experience with Telstra, they will make it a painful, frustrating experience, and try to charge me a whole bunch of extra money for the privilege of their "help".

why?

Because I have extremely bad sunburn and it puts it all to sleep.

Also, Telstra phoned me and blamed the phone fault on me. I'm fed up.

Nono, I think you guys misunderstand. He wasn't going to pretend to lose a limb. He was talking about really losing a limb.

In Australia at least, you can buy a product called "Paxyl" in pharmacists' stores. It has lidocaine/lignocaine in it and it is for the treatment of sunburn, bites and stings, minor burns, etc.

And blah, now I'm getting GOOD speeds on the internet! But drop outs. This is most frustrating.

Are you sure it isn't your modem? I had something similar to you that plagued the place i moved in. I swapped the modem/router and I haven't had a problem since.

It's a brand new modem. There is also noise on the phone line intermittently. I've updated the firmware on the modem too.

The old modem was dropping out too, but it had other issues and died, and it was with much rejoicing that I threw it away.

At home, more often than not it's snippets of code.

At work, it's reference numbers from our call logging system. I have to constantly copy and paste those into emails, out of emails, into the call logging system, into instant messages, into the description field of calls, into notepad...

Research it a bit then. Just read up quick on Wikipedia or some such.

Research it, but don't self-diagnose. You will need to see a psychiatrist for a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, Cyclothymia and other related conditions.
