Blocking, or for that matter using any useful element of the game is not an unfair advantage because it was meant for everyone to use it. By snaking, you are exploiting a fluke in the game's system to skirt the game's usual rules and give yourself an advantage. The amount of effort required to pull off the exploit does not justify it.

Developer intent is a poor way of judging legitimacy. Snaking is only possible because they developers make drift boosts exceptionally easy (compared to other Mario Kart games) to pull off. That's it. You're not doing anything out of the ordinary other than use a powerful ability in the game over and over again.

Drifting hardly makes sense, especially not with the Dpad-input in MKDS. Jumping with your kart doesn't make sense. You're drawing a line in the sand to try and define "what makes sense" and "what doesn't make sense" while using developer intent as the judge for anything that doesn't fit your guidelines.

As far as Smash stuff goes (which is off-topic but whatever) L canceling works differently in Smash 64 and Melee. In Smash64, you can cut the landing lag of your aerial attack entirely by pressing shield just before you hit the ground, while the lag is only cut in half in Melee, rounded down. Game and Watch is special in Melee and can't cancel a few of his aerials because he was rushed in at the last minute and they forgot to let him cancel a few moves, I guess.

"Getting blue sparks" and having an actual boost at the end isn't a "real racing technique" though. And like I said, you're arbitrarily defining "what makes sense in the game world" by what you personally find acceptable. All that snaking is is doing drift boosts repeatedly. I don't see how saying "Here's a technique that was intentionally put into the game, just don't use it too often or you'll make the other players feel bad" is more natural than actually using everything that the game gives you.
