I have to say that even as a "hardcore Microsoft fanboy", this did NOT impress me. The textures, lighting, particle effects, model quality, and such were decent enough.

But... Maybe it was due to the 1080p LCD I played it on, I dunno. It just had more jaggies at the edges of polygons than I've ever seen in my some 15 years of gaming experience. YEOW!

I'm going to try the game on this standard 480i analog CRT here before deciding if I want it. Only tried single player, felt extemely similar to Halo 2 gameplay-wise.

Update: Tested on the above older TV. Interesting outcome. I confirmed beyond any doubt that Halo 3 does in fact have better graphics in standard definition!

I'd ran the Japanese version of PSP Disgaea briefly. Too text heavy, decided to wait for news about an English one. I'm considering buying this because my memory stick is too small to hold more than 1 big game, or zero in some cases if they're over 1GB even with ripping/compression.

A little burned out on strategy-style games at the moment. Used to play Civilization for DOS often, and Fire Emblem 7 was a masterpiece. Didn't care for the FFTactics or Shining Force series' much however.

Windows once went BSOD while I was playing a Fire Emblem on PSP.



As you can see... Dr. Mario 64 with major emulation glitches.



Nothing unusual, US PC version here. I'm just quite the fan of this series.

Trying something in Mario Party 1. I've been stuck in Mini-Game Island or whatever it's called, for a VERY long time. Simply can't get past the ridiculous Pedal Power and Tug 'O War.

If only there was a way to use my Gameshark to help...

Merely set up the PS3 yesterday. Because it won't read NTFS drives, and that Windows XP doesn't itself normally allow creating FAT32 over 32GB, I used another program to reformat that on my external 250GB.

Besides... Some forms of copy protection on an audio CD violate the Red Book standard, and such discs aren't supposed to feature that one logo.

I usually don't buy either CDs or downloadable songs. How many SPC or NSF sets are on iTunes? Thought so.

Are there any Xbox 360 controllers good in more realistic racing games?

I have two of the official white pack-in wireless kind, and they function beautifully on FPS games or various genres. However... Not most driving for me. If I use this specific model on so-called 'realistic' ones, I'll crash into walls constantly! Key phrase is "specific model". I'm fine with such games on the standard PS2 pad, SNES, Saturn, DS, so on.

I'll name various titles with driving I've been able to play well or not so well.

+: Full Auto, Saints Row, Just Cause.
-: PGR4, Sega Rally Revo, Forza 2. Also Fatal Inertia, but that's futuristic so I'm not really counting it.

Better to ask for suggestions than waste money buying something on impulse and have it not be ideal.

Aside from a few MMOs that no one has gotten to use custom servers, so many things are easily pirated to at least partially work.

I don't think I'll be using blu-ray too often for movies without an HDTV. Though my PS3 can do it if a must-have title comes out.

Didn't think of that. Some of the games might have an option to tighten handling so I don't smash into walls left and right every few seconds. Although why this issue is particular to just Xbox 360, only me, and to a certain genre, doesn't make sense. I'lll try the settings settings in-game if there are any.

I'm certainly looking forward to this. There's a demo, it looks and plays great.

Of course. Graphically somewhat like Gears of War, having the same engine. Vehicles are cool too. I'd found a giant walking thing in one map. Doesn't fit into tight spaces, but tons of damage.

Mine has been gathering bust, figuratively speaking, too. It's library just doesn't hold water in the long run. Worst is a lack of major single-player RPGs like Oblivion, Chrono Trigger, or any non-spinoff Final Fantasy (Game Boy Player doesn't work on it).

Backwards compatibility was a massive selling point for me. I'm glad I got an 80GB before it potentially dries up like the 60GB and 20GB did around here. They should've had 60GB at $499 be their only model in all regions, none of this bait-and-switch.

I'm trying to juggle games lately! Final Fantasy 4/8/etc, Oblivion, Folklore (it was free), Half-Life 2, Call of Duty 3, Metal Gear Solid 1/2/3, Grand Theft Auto Double Pack, OutRun 2, several others.

I've long prided myself on variety. A library with many genres covered is essential IMHO.

I'd once spent 2 or more calendar years lost in this one room of Final Fantasy VII, then finally get through it. No problem there. But soon after completing the ice climb and snowboarding mini-games, my save file gets ruined. Luckily no other data on that memory card was affected!

The opposite happened once too. Where I'm like "WTF" when a glitch I expect to happen doesn't. It turns out literally ZERO wild Pokemon encounters will occur on either the Cinnabar or Seafoam coastlines in a legit Japanese Green version cart. So no Missingno or item duplication there.

I'm a bit weird. I say that 2000 is the greatest operating system ever created, 98SE worst, and Mac OS 9 slowest.

Yeah... I've never had problems "running" ME since it wouldn't install for me to begin with (could be because of no NTFS support).
