A funny thing I stumbled on while researching for the article.
Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle keeps the French names in the English PAL release.

Except they didn't bother to change Ryoga or Happosai.

While randomly browsing, I happened upon something I wasn't aware of all these years since the game's release.

This page says and shows the Japanese version of the GB Pokemon TCG has Hudson's IR sensor onboard the cartridge.
Whereas, western versions use the GBC internal IR.

Presumably meaning Japan doesn't need a GBC for the game's IR functions.
Except I don't own two JPN copies to try it.

Valve's games didn't impress me back when they made single player FPSs. By now every joke about their slowness has been beaten to death and back again.

I haven't seen an excellent digital CCG economy yet. Pokemon Trading Card Game Online expects you to buy physical packs to build your collection faster. It appears the American version doesn't even have a cash shop, gems are only available in Canada.

WWE2K18 is another blunder in missing the point I'd encountered. They designed features around microtransactions, except the game has no microtransactions! One is forced to grind if one wants the "lootbox" contents.

The PS4 version is excellent. But I've heard Switch mostly has reduced graphics.

Translation issues, as well as the underwhelming (considering their delays) PC and Switch versions, give the game an unfair rap.

Not that many plushies. Pikachu, Princess Peach, Fox, Mario, Yarn Yoshi, to name some.

Too many amiibo and World of Nintendo minifigures. Slippy is a bit larger.
One of my oldest left is a Misty.

The "gaps in the set", different types of toy still counts, are kinda funny. Fox and Slippy makes half the team. Misty and Pikachu lack Ash or Team Rocket (my old Jessie and James must've blasted off when I wasn't looking)...

We're well aware 3DS games are region locked. So it intrigued me that on my US system, Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives 3 Final Stage (for instance) is identified in English as 'Sega 3D Classics Collection 2'. Is this normal, or visible anywhere without hacking? A Japanese 3DS has no OS language setting.

The name itself is semi-official, being used for the game's Miiverse community.

When I used the Luma locale switcher to tell USA version Super Smash Bros for 3DS that my system is "Korean", the option to connect to Wii U disappeared. But the game otherwise seems to remain in English.

This opens up the possibility the menu's contents may be hidden, rather than removed, in the game's actual Korean version. Something to look into.

That's kinda similar to what happened to me. The slim PS2 I picked up recently has a flip top. Not that I yet 100% understand how flip tops work, or especially wanted to get back into PS2, the price was irresistible. While I already had an official component cable, I preferred not to use it on the TV that doesn't accept 240p component.

That is until fortune backed by some googling smiled again. A PSP PSU I'd stashed away turns out to be a direct replacement to resurrect my Framemeister! We'll see how long it lasts.

A few leads popped up when I was checking out Trails of Cold Steel. Some of the DLC appears to be Japan-only, like the Toro & Kuro stuff. It's also looking like said content remains, unreleased, in the Steam version (GOG version could be different).
