The SMW sounds are always loaded because all games share the same set of sound effects. In fact, a lot of SNES games rarely or never upload new data to the SPC, since it's a fairly slow process.

The sound is mentioned on the SMAS page, it just hasn't been uploaded yet (and I'm not sure it really needs to be, since they're ordinary SMW sound effects).

AFAIK, we've barely ventured outside of the area around spawn (since there was a small-ish world border for so long), so feel free to join and see what's out there. Plenty of biomes we haven't encountered yet.

Windows 10 COULD be a great OS; at its core, it's faster and more stable than Windows 7 and 8 (as is the norm by now), and introduces some great new features. Unfortunately, it's bogged down by a ton of problems and pants-on-head stupid design decisions, including (but not limited to):

- Forced automatic updates. I don't care if you enable automatic updates by default and make them difficult for casual users to disable, but for the love of God, give power users a legitimate option to disable them. Bury it deep in an administrative control panel somewhere, flash warning lights and play a loud siren when you uncheck the option, I don't care, just let me choose!
- Safe mode can only be enabled after Windows boots. It should be immediately obvious why this is a problem (and if it's not, consider that I got stuck in a BSOD/reboot loop because Windows automatically installed a bad driver, and mashing F8 at boot did nothing).
- Zero privacy with a default installation. This has been covered many times already.
- Ridiculous lack of customizability. Colored title bars are coming soon, but that should have been a feature out of the box (and when it does arrive, it will still be extremely limited). Absolutely flat, black-on-white windows are not everyone's cup of tea. And why are you limited to such a small set of pastel colors? Why not let users choose exactly what colors they want, and where they want them?
- A schizophrenic UI, thanks in large part to the utter catastrophe that was Windows 8. Windows 10 happily bounces between Metro-ish and classic UIs, each with their own respective graphical style. There's no coherency.
- Ads everywhere. Advertising is now an integral part of Windows and its apps. It's disgusting.
- MIDI support has essentially vanished from the OS. Granted, they're kind of a relic of the past now that everyone has broadband and can download actual recorded albums in seconds, but some of us still have a use for them.

Overall, there is a distressing lack of choice in Windows 10. Freedom of choice is one of the biggest things that set Microsoft apart from Apple, and it's really sad that they seem to have forgotten this.

Super Mario Maker is pretty fun so far! It's definitely no Lunar Magic, and I frequently find myself longing for some more powerful tools and options (alternate level palettes, vertical levels, and choice of music tracks, to name a few), but overall it's far exceeded my expectations. Well done, Nintendo!

I had this really neat puzzle that used a large Koopa shell to carve a precise path through coins after a P-Switch was hit, but I had to scrap it once I discovered that kicked shells move at a different speed based on how fast Mario is running when he touches one. You could very easily make the puzzle unsolvable just by moving too fast.

I'm kind of starting to loathe the weird quirks and limitations in this game's engine.

This brings up a good question: when will it be okay to openly talk about the game? This seems to be the only game in recent memory where it's absolutely verboten to post anything beyond the first area (not even music!) for fear of massive backlash from people that are probably never going to play the game at this rate.

If you want to play Undertale then PLAY UNDERTALE so you can nerd out with the rest of us.

Two new levels!

The Earthen Tower (505C-0000-00A9-6E16)

My first NSMB level, a vertical tower divided into several rooms (best I could do without true vertical level support). Has a couple mild puzzles, nothing too serious. I kind of loathe the NSMB aesthetic, but it seemed to be the best match for this level theme.

Freezer Burn (90B9-0000-00B4-90E0)

Another SMB3 level, split into two areas. You can probably guess the theme based on the level name.
Mostly straightforward platforming with a fortress-style puzzle-maze thing (???) near the end. I do words good.

They do, you just have to explore a bit more. (I actually went and checked to make sure the pipes were still linked!)

Yeah, I probably should have put one before that section instead of a mushroom. There's another one later in the level, but by that point it's only really good for an extra hit point.

I actually redesigned that area several times; it originally had a couple MORE layers of ice blocks!

I tend to have trouble identifying really tedious parts in my levels after blazing through them so many times, and since nobody else in the apartment plays the game much anymore, it's hard to get feedback on these things...

There's a not-very-obvious alternate path you can take that gives you even more coins, but no powerups/1-ups. Sorry.

Satisfying rewards are something else I seem to have trouble with. I feel like the game's limit of three extra lives (and the pointlessness of lives and coins when you're directly playing a level via its course ID) only compounds the problem; what's the point in showering the player with treasure if the vast majority of it won't carry over to the next level?
