Incorrect, sir! Two Atari games released in 1976 used the font, according to MAME. The games are:

- Cannonball (prototype)
- Sprint 2

Sprint 2 was released back when Atari was still known as Kee Games, and is more likely to be the first game to use the font (unless there are even older games not supported by MAME that use it, i.e. those that didn't use a CPU).

Cannonball has a slight variation of the font (the zeroes are crossed) not used in later games, which might indicate that it's even older than Sprint 2, but the set is missing a graphics ROM and only shows half of each character.
