Positively unplayable.
The default button layout feels weird, the whole game is effects upp the arse (even when turned down to simple) and confusing as all hell.
There's literally shit going on everywhere and just bullets and what? How am I supposed to understand any of this?

If you're willing to mess with dev consoles and similar things thent you are liable for any damage made.
It's the software equivalent of taking away the warranty seal and having a go at the consoles innards, if you're not 100% sure of what you're doing, then don't.
Edit: With that said, it is still slightly silly that there doesn't seem to be some kind of secure-boot or other recovery measure, which really should be standard.

So like, everyone despises this game for being a "Smash Bros. ripoff" and always cites that one trailer of the game where one of the tags was "super smash bros " but no one can really decide why it's a bad game.

Games I dislike though? A fucking shit-ton, but one stands out specifically.
Demon Souls.
Overrated piece of crap only appealing to nostalgic gamers blind to anything else modern because it is "OH SO HARD".
The stages where bland and easy, and the only hard part were the bosses. Which if you died on them, had to spend a few minutes getting back too. And for some reason if you died your health got cut down to 70% or so because WOW WHY NOT THIS IS FAIR AND GAMES AND HARD WOW.
Fuck that game.
