Sorry, I removed my first post because it wasn't informative enough. Here is the stuff I found in the files:

Features:

babies_bottle
babies_diaper
babies_moses
babies_stroller
babies_suckthingy
basketball_net
basketballcourt

Miscellaneous stuff:

kidspets_cat
kidspets_dog
kidspets_fish
kidsschool_book
kidsschool_globe
kidsschool_math
kidstoys_bear
kidstoys_bubbles
kidstoys_top
leaves_street (Seasons?)
leaves_walk
prop_cat_catnip

Unused animations:

wf_hospital
wf_gosteady
wf_gosteady_reject
wf_inheritance
wf_job_demoted
wf_job_fired
wf_lightening

If somebody could make a proper .ARC extractor and rebuilder, the game could finally have custom content like it's PC counterpart. The link to " The Urbz 2" unused files are here:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/k9cfebwxx393ic4/Urbz+2+files.7z

Have fun! And somebody please make a page about this game, since I don't know how.

Ah, I see. I did see on this site:

http://modthesims.info/t/502059

That according to a former Maxis employee, The Urbz 2 was a planned game, but got reworked into... The Sims 2 for consoles.

I found this in marimba_prepare.log

protocol: http
host: ears-marimba1.rws.ad.ea.com:5282
file: /EA/S2C/SKU1/LATEST/Target_NGC
Loading security DLL @ C:\Work\Urbz2\bin\mrbupd.dll\..\mrbsslc.dll
FQDN : jyang-7380.rws.ad.ea.com
id: 7379470128754092799

The one thing is the title lists, "Urbz2". That confirms everything.

I was wondering; Has anybody ever decrypted the game files to Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus? The games' filesystem is completely hidden when opening the ISO! If anyone has reversed the compression/encryption, please tell me.

I have no idea on how to edit pages and add sounds, but yeah. Here is a .7Z file with a ton of the game dialog. It is all dialog from the series, and more is to be ripped. The game also has placeholder music, such as "Two Tickets to Paradise", by Eddie Money, which isn't included.

Kent Brockman, a character from the show, was intended to be in the final game, but he was cut. I found a picture of a 2D sprite of him, and his model is still there, and possibly the animations!

Open the steching.rcf file in dragon unpacker and it is in there.

I just found out there is a pre-release demo of The Sims 2 for PS2. It is on 3 demo discs (one of which is standalone):

Official PlayStation 2 Magazine Demo Disc 66 (PAL)
Official PlayStation 2 Magazine Demo Disc 78 (PAL)
The Sims 2 (Demo Disc)

Only 2,500 copies of The Sims 2 (Demo Disc) were given away.

My internet will not download stuff since Chrome gives the "Unknown network error". I did however extract a broken .ISO of it and checked the date stamp on the files. It predates the final by, oh, around a week? Here are the dates included in both the demo and the final game:

The earliest date is 8/26/2005
Another date is 8/27/2005
The demo date is 9/6/2005
And another date is 9/7/2005
The final date is 9/19/2005

We need more people to check this game. There is a TON of stuff to be found.

Out of the demo discs I have cataloged, I have #66. The Sims 2 demo files date to 8-9/09/2005 (09/08-09/2005 for the not-logical mm/dd/yyyy format people). The strings in the ELF seem to confirm this date ("EOR/Maxis Engine v3.0 built 19:41:18 Sep 8 2005" [the timestamps vary, date stays the same]).

Since you have the ISO to the whole disc, could you upload the folder with all of the files to this demo onto a site? I would like the files to it.

I just got the demo downloaded, and gameplay-wise it is identical to the final game, but there are a few differences. The demo uses one of the houses made for the full game. It has a 12 Sim hour time limit, the social interactions are limited, there are a bunch of random Sims you can control, the house is re-arranged with different objects, and the buy mode has a very limited amount of stuff to choose from.

Ah, yes. The first game's E3 demo has some unused stuff in it when you open the SLY.WAL file in a hex editor. I found this dialog in that file that starts at the offset 05987CD0 and ends at the offset 05988000 (note: This dialog calls him Sly, so the name JT wasn't used for long):

Hello Sly, do you read me?
Yeah Bentley, I hear ya
I've just identified a potential problem
See that filthy gate over there?
It blocks the only road going into Raleigh's hideout!
Hrmmm, OK This'll be a good chance for me to bust out my new climb move
Remember, you can only climb on certain objects, like ropes and pipes
or like that ladder over there?
Yeah, that looks safe enough
Now all you have to do is get close, jump, and hit the &2O& button to grab it
Yeah, yeah, jump and hit the &2O& to grab, no problem.

This is a leftover from one of the first builds of the game. Another thing I discovered was an enemy that was cut from the game. I found him by glitching myself past the invisible wall.

I also uploaded the Sly 2 E3 demo yesterday:

The voice for "my new climb move" is pretty funny.

And nice find! he's actually the beta for the squid flashlight guard; thats pretty funny that they put both models in the demo, seeing as the other one is nearly identical to the final albeit a different color. What's the name of that level? I can't read it very well but it looks like it says "WW_t3_final"? That level's name in the final is "Gunboat Graveyard" so I can't really find any correlation between the two... did you find anything else interesting over there? or care to share how you got there?

One semi-interesting thing I've managed to find in the demo is a way to get out of bounds in the first level, above the waterfall. There's nothing up there, but this glitch can only be done in the demo; I tried it out on my official disk and it wasn't possible at all.

and thanks for the link! I'll definitely try it out.

I just realized there is a few trailers showing the game in it's beta stages, and it shows off the second world (Sunset Snake Eyes). It looks a bit different, but not by a lot.

Video:

EDIT: I found an early version of a cutscene!

Sly's voice, yet again, is totally different, and Murray has his old, Sly 1 design.

Oh, and check out this thread if you haven't found it already (It's about modding the game):

The demo version found on Jampack Winter 2002 has an early, yet inaccessible version of the tutorial level. Now, thanks to a friend of mine, it is now able to be played via a save state. Here is a video of it (it has a fair amount of differences; The biggest being an EARLY version of Carmelita Fox):

From what I've gathered, you're right. The game was really close to completion. Heck, I know at the point the E3 demo was made, they already had the Muggshot level mostly done. Even Carmelita was in the story at that point as well, but she had a black police outfit and was more orange. There is a chance that even Mz. Ruby's level was done at the time the E3 demo was made, since in a video I saw (it was by SlyCooperRawks I think), there were some placeholder sounds for Mz. Ruby's rhythm mini game, and they sound a lot like the E3 demo Sly's voice, and I mean, a lot. So, my best guess is they had the Mz. Ruby level completed, and then Sucker Punch went and changed up the model and voice. The other thing is the plot was most likely all thought out, since the game, at the time, was called "Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus". Just like the final game.

Actually, from the looks of it, JT's in-game model (not the one used in the conversations) is the same as the E3 demo Sly. And, that's considering the JT build was made just 10 months before release. I say he looks like the E3 Sly because if you freeze frame the video, it will show his face, and it looks the same as the E3 Sly. Also, to support this, the animations appear to be the same. It's as if the engine's mechanics were pretty much implemented at the point JT's build was made, since even the level layout is the same (albeit different textures).

Here is a picture of JT's face. You can tell it's the old, E3 demo Sly model for sure.

I never did think of the fact that he refers to the climb move as "new". Sorta makes you wonder how many levels are actually in the JT build. And in regards to the video you showed, I actually removed all of the commentary (the conversations between JT and Bentley were removed, too, sadly) but you can hear the music in the background a bit better. It is very different, but it's a similar style to that of the final. Oh, and the one I did with no commentary, the quality is outstanding compared to the one you had posted.
