Sorry for double posting, but I had a new wave of problems with the layout.

Oh geez, in this case, it was the hidden comments blending with the white, so I took a different route this time. I added some transparency and changed the body color to black.

Personally, it looks like a solar eclipse now.

Does it look better than my previous one?

I only want to stay with a "stable" layout for some time, instead of having to edit it for all the problems it causes.

So, I own a printer (a PIXMA MP160) which also doubles as a scanner.

While printing works perfectly, scanning doesn't. Pushing the "SCAN" button on the printer does nothing, and using the included program "OmniPage 3 SE" throws up an error (Cannot communicate with the scanner driver) when trying to scan, and MP Navigator gives a similar result.

Because the Driver CD is lost somewhere in the house, I had to find the driver on the Canon website.
After checking it was the correct version, I installed it and rebooted. Still, nothing changed.

It installed correctly, because the printing still worked, but the scanner still doesn't.
Some people say that it doesn't work because I had to use it somewhat intensively in the past.

What should I do now?

By doing a quick search on Google, it's shown that many other people have said that it would have been a much better solution than deleting the service entirely.

But now, the damage is done. First Flipnote (for completely different reasons), then Wii Channels (again, for different reasons), now this.

Sure Nintendo, shut down even more services...

That's the page I went to for downloading the drivers some days ago. It didn't work.

The scanner did work before. I have used it quite many times in the past, both with my old XP computer and my newer Win 7 PC.

One day, it just stopped working.

As some people know, there are some smiles in "http://jul.rustedlogic.net/images/smilies" not accessible from the "Smiles" page, forcing you to hotlink them. These ones are generally wierder, so why not hotlink them all (and kill myself in the process) to choose the favourite one?

Ugh... Firefox screwed up with Javascript this time. Photobucket barely works there so I had to use IE.

Anyway, I don't need to describe absolutely anything here. The image should speak for itself, but due to crappy camera and non-functioning scanner, I had to rewrite some text on MSPaint.

No bonus points for the reference at the bottom.

Jokes aside, this was done to test pencil coloring (it doesn't work and with the picture quality making it look worse doesn't help matters).

I could actually put up with a chocolate allergy these days. I wouldn't like it, obviously, but I... don't really eat chocolate, so it wouldn't be a total heartbreaker.

I always eat bread, even if there isn't any ham to go with it. I just like it. About vegetables... yeah
I don't have an allergy of vegetables, but I can only manage to eat spinaches, tomatoes, cucumber, potatoes, anything but salad. It feels like paper, unless there is some bread. Oh dear...

Maybe, if the rescue disk option doesn't work (0.1% probability) you could try Hiren's Boot CD. I personally use the Restored Proteus "edition" which includes some extra utilities.

In either versions, there are some tools under Mini XP/DOS that can change/repair/edit the Boot sector. You might give a try to it, although some tools there are quite complex.

Argh... after doing a search on Google for the error code I found this article, which tells to enable some services.

You know what happened? One day I had to speed up Windows by disabling some services. One of them was the WIA service, without thinking of the possible consequences (I thought it would have just disabled the WIA, not the scanner detection alltogether).

This thread can be closed, I guess.

Moral of the story: don't disable services you don't know about.
