Even if they ACTUALLY ARE hacks of games? Like, say, Noah's 3D Ark thing. It's an obvious Wolfenstein 3D hack. I know it has a history behind it and all, but it's still a hack.


Yes, but it was commercially SOLD. This is the only type of hack that we document, which includes one of the most famous hacks of all time: Super Mario Bros. 2 (aka Super Mario Bros. USA). Not to mention Ms. Pac-Man amongst many others.

Just posting this here in case I forget.

Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly (yes, there is an article already, but this is bigger than previously thought)

This contains a s**tload of uncompiled source code, both inside and out of the level chunks, and developer batch files. Not to mention a 600kB xls spreadsheet documenting the music inside and out from Scott Smith (and all he got was a special thanks).

I've been thinking about this, (although I thought it could go on a separate wiki, like a sub-domain or something) and how about a rule that states that:
"The pre-release material must appear in some sort of publication, whether digital or analogue (ie. magazine or press kit) and can be proven to appear in said medium.
Exceptions can be given for trustworthy sources, such as former employees of said game development studio."

Other than that, I think that it would be a great idea, and we could (finally) obsolete such chaotic dumping grounds such as this.

The sound tests in both Zero Mission protos go up to 710, then it returns to the first debug menu.
The sound tests in the Fusion protos go up to 744.

Action 52 (NES) (yes, that crap crapstick of a crappy game) loads the tile graphics for "Over the Desert" between when the lamps show and the "LIGHTS!" screen, which is also why they have glitched tiles for a few frames.

ETA: It seems the "game" loads tiles from random places between screen changes from the main menu to any mini-game.

Not yet putting it onto the wiki as I'm not sure if this is the default behavior, or if I enabled it somehow while messing around with the menu...


It's only enabled after entering a level via the debug menu, no other tweaks required. It seems weird that it's similar behaviour to the same mode on the Contra 4 proto (the fact that it's only enabled via accessing a level through the debug menu).

Dolphin, the GameCube/Wii emulator has this ability. Simple, does the job. Also see wiifuse, which can mount ISOs as a read-only filesystem. Haven't used this, so I can't say much on it.
