In the PC version of Sega Rally 2, there is a folder named "escort" in the bindata folder, which suggests that Ford Escort (it appears in the arcade version) was going to be in the game. Anyone noticing this yet?

The contents of the folder:

As you can see, the wav files are named focus_m*.wav instead, suggesting that Ford Focus could be there. Any word? Is this issue worthy of a seperate TCRF article?

In case you don't know, X-Men CotA has also a (fully working) debug menu, and I figured out how to get Akuma in CHAR TEST. (See my sandbox)

Anyway, so I looked at Street Fighter Alpha and noticed that "Itoshisato Setsunasato Kokorozuyosato", the Dramatic Battle song in the Japanese version of the game (actually from the SF2 anime movie, only remixed and made instrumental) is not in the sound test, only through manual MAME cheats (set "Sound Test" in MAME cheat menu to "52 (0x34)") only. Address 0x34 (after Dan's theme and ending theme) in official sound test menu are empty, for some reason.

I have no idea why.

Of course I know about the X-Men CotA menu, I hacked it lol. Nice work with the sound thing though as it is always nice to see unused content in any form. Let me know if you unlock one of the menus I've found in this thread as I'd be interesting in checking them out.

Well, that song in question is used in the Japanese version of the game (sfzj). I may possibly check the Japanese ROM to check if that song shows up in the sound test or not.

I checked Message Test and in addition to location test message there is also references to scrapped alternate ending where Colossus tries to join Magneto.

Set language to United States (any language will do) and message type to Ending Message.

8E: [Join Magneto.] or [Refuse Magneto.]
8F/90: I have lost too many of my loved ones to Xavier's failed|dream. I will try yours.
98/99: I chose to follow Magneto because I cannot forgive the|humans for killing mother and father. But...

Posted on 10-03-14 09:06:19 AM, in THQ MotoGP - Telnet/Debug Link
THQ's MotoGP games have a documented Telnet debugging functionality (see the game's readme) accessed by adding "telnet = true" to the motogp.cfg file and connecting to the localhost using telnet. Turns out, actually, there is a configuration file where the debug settings can be changed locally without telnetting the game. I managed to use it to unlock the locked riders and tracks.

Would it be a worthy entry for the wiki?

Someone over GTPlanet ripped GTPSP car textures. This is the one for Ferrari F2007: http://109.imagebam.com/download/R61BeSs-PHy1pMuWljqaIQ/35132/351312971/car_3.PNG

If you look at Image09054B40_0905BD90.png on the linked picture you can see the controversial barcode (on actual car), which is not in the actual game:

The barcode is not in GT5P or GT5 either.

This code appears frequently in many PS2 code pages:

N11T-Y1ND-RZJCQ
H4YV-5YZU-7HYTW
44WE-P9Z7-3ZV4E
1C59-2ED2-B4NA6

Press L3+R3 to activate. Most of the options are only accessible during gameplay. Features everything, unlocks, debug info, speed modifiers, 'turn Reset & Wrong way' off, drive through walls, Etc.

My experience with this, apart from the unlock everything/money modifier, is that I found a Japanese language option that makes the game menu text to go blank.

Sadly and disappointingly, I noticed that in the Japanese version of MSHvSF, the Mega Man signs in the mall stage are not replaced with Rockman:

A lot of the samples / loops actually fade out at the end like the Car RPM sounds.

I personally thought the game uses recorded music but it looks like the music is 'live' or this might have been just cut content, currently not sure....

anyway here's some sped up examples:

some sick ass (poorly looped) breaks

some loop that sounds like it came from rob base & dj ez rock's it takes two

another drum loop

a crash sample i swear i've heard before

a 'pad' sound, not sure if it's correctly cleaned since I've never heard it before

two of the menu sounds from the game which are not cut (not sure about the second one)

and some music that plays at the start of a race that was already properly pitched

There's also a piano piece that I'm also sure didn't make it in the game.

I asked Xenn over GTPlanet over this, and says that those are left overs from Gran Turismo 2000 demo (and many GT3 demos that used the GT2000 music).

What does Colossus and Sentinel say? This seems to point to multiple endings. (Also extract them so I can put it in the CotA article)

Finally found CotA Colossus's Japanese multiple ending, the first part:

I'll need the text to be extracted as I will need to put in the CotA article.

I discovered ages ago, that in Taito's Side by Side 2 (arcade version), there would be occasionally a Subaru Impreza that, if driven by the CPU, turns into the wagon version. I've found a Japanese page documenting this: [url]http://blackcatkuro.web.fc2.com/sbs.html[url]

I am too lazy to "obtain the required files" so here's a screenshot from the linked page:

SFA1 error handlers:

Also I found this in Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero: traffic car descriptions. Now we'll need the chassis codes for the traffic cars:

This is an annoying vehicle that overlaps traffic lanes and rides around Tokyo's expressways as if it owns them. It has the worst power, speed, and driving manners.
This type of vehicle has inhabited Tokyo's expressways for countless years. You will find them on all routes, day or night.

Posted on 11-06-15 11:01:54 AM, in Let's and Go Eternal Wings - Code help/"hidden track"? Link
So I found a code to change the car and Load box character (as well as the car) for Let's and Go Eternal Wings here: http://pastebin.com/nvJp4CAw (original source included in the pastebin, I just translated it). However, something in the codes really confuses me.

This code: 30089E07 00xx sets the character. Now, one of the characters, Jun Sagami, has seemingly two values (57 and D2). Do I put it like this:

30089E07 0057/30089E07 00D2 (take your pick)

or do I put it like this:
30089E07 0057
30089E08 00D2 (which sounds unlikely)?

Or is it 30089E07 57D2 (or maybe D257, given my experiences with car body codes for Gran Turismo 2)?

Which one should I use?

Also, something that may be worthy of an article here: I am wondering if there is any track changer code (much like in GT2) so I can use this track in Single Race mode:

(Currently, the only way to use this track with full grid is to go to Story/Scenario Mode, complete the duel race there, then go back there from the Scenario map - and answer yes when prompted.)

I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this, but something's been perplexing me for a while. I was given the Windows 95 version of 'Mortal Kombat 3' years ago, and while I lost the CD, I still have the instruction manual.

There's a screenshot in there, of the usual VS. screen, but the first player appears to be Baraka from MKII.

As far as I know, that shouldn't be the case, since the characters were finalized in the original Arcade version, right? Every other version was a port. While I no longer have the CD, and my PC couldn't run the old game, I remember going through the files on the CD and there was nothing to suggest Baraka was in there. So why on Earth would Baraka appear in the instruction manual?

Would it be some kind of mockup? I don't understand why it would be though, considering that the Arcade game was already out. Unless the screenshots were taken during development of the Arcade game and accidentally included within the Windows 95 port's instruction manual.

I'll find my instruction manual and take a screenshot.

EDIT:

Ah, here. I found the instruction manual. As you can see, it has Baraka on the VS. screen, and another screenshot has Rayden fighting Scorpion. While the character select screenshots have the final MK3 roster, a third screenshot shows the purple ninja Rain, suggesting that the Ninjas were definitely intended to be included at some point.

Could these have just been screenshots taken during the original Arcade development, presuming they originally either used MKII assets for testing purposes or that they were originally going to include MKII characters before creating a whole new roster?

Note that the level timer appears above the health bars in the Arcade version, which is consistent with two of these screenshots, whereas the Windows 95 version has the level timer directly between the health bars. The instruction manual has screenshots with both variations, suggesting that some of these screenshots are indeed from an early Arcade prototype, whereas others are directly from the 95 Version.

Also of interest, while the final has "Sub-Zero", this screenshot appears to spell it as one word, although it's hard to tell due to both the blurriness of the original screenshot and the further blurriness of my camera.

I noticed UMK3 styled ninjas. Are you sure this is not a MK Trilogy manual?
