If that still works in OoT 3D I'm going to laugh.

Inside the Spirit Temple, there is that tall statue that sits cross legged. For no good reason at all, you can hookshot/longshot to her nipples.

Video of the 3DS version is here.

What makes this even funnier, it's not like some parts of the collision model around there happen to be hookshot-able or something, they deliberately put two tiny collision polygons where her nipples would be in the room model.

OH MY GOD. Let's try not eating while reading these things... I never knew that, but I'm totally doing it.

I'd say that fan games should have to be an original game (not a hack of another game and using its resources as a crutch) to be able to get on the wiki.

Now, I'm pretty sure we have an unlicensed game section, so why don't we rename it to Unlicensed/Homebrew Games?

As long as it's a completely different version from the final game and not just a section ripped from the game, or a simple timer.

I know there's a few special Dolphin versions hanging around, why not try the version that only works for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets? I can't put up a DL link since I'm not on my computer, but try various custom Dolphin versions until it works. Either that or load it on a Homebrewed Wii.

Ugh... I've got the 2003 demo disk... physically. Nothing interesting on it though. So close, so very close, I could've distributed it if I had a lucky break myself. Good finds by the way.

Since I'm late night browsing on my 3DS, I'll try it tomorrow. I think a few games did this for me, and I've got a few obscure versions of Dolphin that are optimized for only one game each (like Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets for instance). And yeah, I guess I didn't see that in your wall of text, but to be fair, I'm pretty tired.

We're not really hurting for revenue, but TCRF doesn't pay for itself (and the money made from ads can be reused to advertise for TCRF at other places, too).

I think I'm going to agree on the leaderboard ad being more annoying than the current sidebar ad or one at the bottom. I'd have to see it incorporated into the layout, though, it might not be as bad as I'm thinking. I know the LP archive uses them and they don't bother me there.

I'm actually not a fan of not showing the ad when logged in, though. I'm too broke to donate, but I love TCRF, so I'd like you to be getting ad revenue from me at least. Maybe make it so ads go away for donators?

Not a bad idea. I can deal with ads as long as they don't get annoying or go in front of text when viewing a page in peculiar resolutions.

Well, I guess this is your answer. I haven't actually played Star Fox Adventures (I heard it was really bad, so I don't want to invest time in it...), so good luck. I'll be looking at your finds.

Understatement of the decade! Abhorrently awful game. Surprised they released it at all.

I've played Superman 64 before, gave it to a friend, along with E.T. and Sonic '06. I'm a horrible friend, aren't I?

I also found... the Game Gear games! They're still included in the game files, and I was able to decompress them all. I even found a sixteenth compressed file which, when decompressed, contains this text:

press -r g-sonic.gg g-sonic.prs
press -r labylin.gg labylin.prs
press -r mbmachin.gg mbmachin.prs

There are some references to these games in the executable (file names, and corrupt, possibly compressed menu strings) but there's no way to run them as far as I can tell. I have no idea if anyone at Sonic Retro has uncovered this because their web server hates me and refuses to load anything more than A SINGLE PAGE.

Holy crap, that's interesting. Are they emulatable, or are they corrupted like some of those files?

I dunno, I think the FDS is pretty killer. The load times never really seemed that bad to me either.

I've had worse loading times. With the brand new PS2 I got many Christmases ago, I got a copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

I still have this game, sheerly to compare loadtimes with. If any game manages to, by all the good names of the gods, take longer to load than said PS2 game, I will probably just burn it in fire to save myself the pain.

Also, I use this to demonstrate to anyone who complains about 360 load times with uninstalled games. Those are better than that mess of a game's excuse of load screens.

Back on topic, it really is quite a nice video. I can't tell too many differences off the top of my head, save the boomerang/ sword choice. Nice option, wonder why it was removed.

Try my 10 minute loading times on Gmod, but that's 50 GB of data.

The first is probably a form of bumpmapping, normalmapping, or specularity, the second is definitely the source texture, and your combined version looks wrong since it's a texturemap (not sure on the terminology for this) of some sort, but good find though. Did Star Fox Adventures feature anything like what I mentioned?

Oh, and the more I look at it, it looks like scales on a creature of some sort, but it's probably just coincidental.

It's definitely a compressed normal map. Video game consoles use this kinda all the time. (Rather than using RGB for XYZ, grayscale color is X and alpha is Y.)

It's kind of surprising that hardly any GameCube games used normal maps, considering it could use them.

I'm not too good with Normalmaps, but I mod Star Wars Republic Commando a lot (it uses custom bumpmapping unique to shadermodel 2.0, causing crashes/errors on newer PCs). What threw me off was that it was a greyscale, I'm used to purple colored normalmaps. Interesting though, Soul Calibur 2 could've used it, it would've beaten the crap out of any other game in graphics even more for its time.

Nice. There's quality lines that never got used, not to mention that the whole Princess Fluffybutt quest sounds really fun. Too bad it didn't make it, and Zer0's lines don't sound too great. I wonder what's up with the "Hey Slab, wanna lift?" lines though... Seriously, it's great though.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
