Eh, it's not entirely as simple as that. Like some stuff is just exploitive of a lot of human behaviors. Like people who feel kind of like they're missing out if they don't have everything in a game. I know how that can be. Mostly launch day stuff. And of course multiplayer benefits for paying more.

I'd honestly say that anything that isn't some kind of separate campaign or gameplay mode or something is kind of ripoffy. If it's going to be content, I'd rather a large pack of assorted whatever for $20-30 like old sims expansions over one thing for $1-5. Of course, this doesn't equate to EA or whoever not sponging more money from people than they'll ever need, so it'll never happen. Things will continue to get worse and that's it.

Firefox is not liking this, along with metal man 88's layout. Overall it's pretty broken in glitchy ways or just completely not working at all for a lot of it in this version of firefox (10.0.1).

CCleaner isn't too useless, if you want to save some hard drive space. But it usually only amounts to ~100-200MB with a heavily used system.

Also I'd definitely consider that malware. It's intended to nag, inconvenience and scare you in to buying dumb shit. That one looks like it actually does _something_, whether it may be useful or not, so it has that going for it. It wouldn't be so bad if it could easily just be uninstalled, but hardware manufacturers obviously have to go too far with their bullshit to make a few extra bucks.

I had a similar game on a shareware CD when I was younger. I forget what it was called and whatnot but it was more similar to SMB and SMB3, had VGA mode graphics and I believe sound blaster audio.

I wouldn't be too harsh on people on youtube. A lot of demos aren't differentiable from the final until far enohg in to the game. So yeah, I'd say some kind of accepted rule/standard in the rom hacking ccommunity that for any major release, to add something like:
THIS IS NOT A FINAL RELEASE!
<,build date>
Check <website> for updates.

Some place before gameplay starts or in a very early intro text or something.
Of course, some systems may lack the capability to display that much. Maybe give some allowance for stuff, but the fact that it's not final and where updates can be found should be a strong recommendation for people releasing incomplete versions, with some standard guidelines.

I know this has mostly been stated, but nobody has said it very completely or entirely clearly, and I think clarity is quite important for this situation as it's an ongoing problem, and nobody's really produced a strong, recommended guideline. As for those who don't follow the guideline, well that's the risk they take.

Well, that's just retardation on their side. What kind of developer releases a game that crashes when you don't have a particular DLC? They fucked up and they took a loss; it's nobody else's fault but their's.

The way they rush out games to be patched ad infinitum until they stop caring (which may be before the game is actually reasonably bug free) doesn't seem to be a big deal for most of them, so at least for those who do that, I don't feel bad at all. It's the small companies that don't go blowing a movie's worth of budget on a low-risk game that have to suffer with big company costs for publishing and distribution that I'd actually feel for, but would expect better practices than day 1 DLC and DLC that makes multiplayer unfair. I know you brought up tournaments and stuff, but who the fuck cares about tournaments. Most people are just playing casually on multiplayer being matched up with whoever, and it'd suck to be blown away because they spent $10 on some extra whatever that gives them an unfair benefit.

You can also install windows 3.11 in dosbox if you want that authenticity. Also, most of these games if not all of them have been rewritten in some way or another.

They do run pretty much perfectly in wine in 64bit, if you can find vbrun100.dll.

If you're connecting to the internet from the virtual machine, it emulates it's own network card, and routes everything through your OS's networking through the network device. Whether it's wifi or not is invisible, as long as it provides a route to a network, or the internet. However, if it's USB wifi, you can probably access the device from in the virtual machine if your VM software has that functionality. Some drivers that support windows 2000 will provide their own wireless control software.
