I've only touched snow once.
I live in a desert. We don't get snow. However, the mountain range nearby does get snow in the winter (when that happens our local temps drop below 20 and it's crazy.)
The only time I touched snow was one time I went to visit my (then still ill) father in San Diego. We have to drive through a road that goes through the mountains. My brother and his daughters were with us, so he stopped at a rest stop so the girls could see the snow.
I don't like snow.

Sim City (the new one) has a debug mode in it.
http://www.geek.com/articles/games/modder-proves-simcity-can-run-offline-indefinitely-20130314/
It might be worth looking into before EA patches it out.

That's not a bug, that's a standard Rockstar port.

omega59, Aeonic meant the characters from Gears of War: http://gearsofwar.wikia.com/wiki/Category:COG
It took me a bit to figure it out too, having never played the games before. I thought the Gears guy looked like a generic Unreal grunt, myself...

Out of curiosity, what hardware are you using to capture this, and how? S-Video or Composite?

I guess you'll have to try to see if you can make that playable. I suggest swapping the folder names of the Escort and a playable car and run the game to see if that enables the Escort.
Or maybe this might shed some light:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/27054/message/933464426/is+the+escort+cosworth+in+the+game-
Ok, the Ford Escort is not there.
by MPenny
i swaped out the Escort foles into the directory of another car, and Anecdote was correct, the Escort was replaced by the Kerolla. And i tried my method B going back through the tenth year of the ten year championship, and it didnt give me the alternate cars.....hmmm....still going to be trying to figure it, but now i know for a fact that the Escort is not in the game.

It's possible that they were going to have it but couldn't at the last minute, and they just added different model files instead.

Don't Starve (PC).
I got it in trade since I really liked Klei Entertainment's previous games (except for Shank 2, hope they get their heads straight and MAKE THE CONTROLS NOT SUCK) and I finally sat down and played it for longer than ten minutes. It's good and simple but the game can be very unfair when... well, you can starve pretty easily.
I'm hoping the final version will be much less harsh on me.

... yes it does, actually. I've captured stuff from VHS tapes via S-Video and there's a little bit less interference / blurring through it than with Composite. Of course, if the source material sucks (like EP tapes with Saturday morning cartoons, haha) then there won't be that much of a difference. VHS is a lossy format, unfortunately - but at least you can make things suck less with S-Video.
Heck, there's VHS decks with Component output, unbelievably.
I mostly want to know what hardware he's using so I can shop around.

Don't even bother with set-top DVD Recorders for modern systems. All the ones I've used suck at recording videogame footage because they compress the -crap- out of things.
I once tried to record some DDRMax 2 footage. It spat out something that looked like a 1999 Real Video format file.
But they should work fine for pre-SNES stuff.
If your computer's fast enough, PCSX2 can be pretty decent. I don't capture video with it, but the screenshots are pretty awesome. (I'll go back and finish this when my computer doesn't overheat so often.)

Yes, all Unreal games are on Steam.
Just wait for the Summer Sale if you want to get them all in one shot.

Apparently, there is a playable copy of Sunsoft's Batman on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of 'Batman - Arkham City', non-GOTY editions. I assume this qualifies as an entry on the wiki, as Goldeneye has a similar feature with that ZX emulator (perhaps not in how it's accessed, but in the existence itself).
I wonder if one could boot some other NES games in-game?
The games have already been dissected by fans extracting resources. I honestly doubt a NES game would've gone hidden for this long in it, especially since it's a popular franchise -and- an Unreal engine-based game..

Not so much a "weird" discovery, but Raven Software and Activision released the source code archives for Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. These are only for the executable files - very few resources are included. A techie friend of mine noticed a lot of comments about the functions and whatnot, there's probably some silly stuff somewhere in there.
But the best thing is... Raven didn't take out any of the Xbox-specific source code. It all appears to be in there.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jedioutcast/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jediacademy/
Grab it before they figure out they left in stuff that should probably not be in there.

I forget, but if a game has remnants of test rooms (but no actual maps or way to load them) does that count as unused areas? Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime has some leftover "NAVMESH" and "TACTICALDB" (enemy AI / scripts, I think?) data for two enemy test maps, one trap test map, and one powerup test map, but as far as I can tell, there aren't any maps to go with them.

Raven and Activision don't care.
Microsoft and its army of sue-happy lawyers, on the other hand...
Sadly there don't appear to be any Microsoft-authored tools in there. I saw batch files to turn MP3 and WAV files into XWB archives in the Jedi Academy folder but that's it. I wonder if there's source code for the Xbox ADPCM format...
Edit again: I don't think there's much left in there. Then again I am not a programmer.

Originally posted by NotSoOriginalUsername ...However, I think I may be the first to discover this in the MUSIC.RCF archive, or I think I may be the only person who has acknowledged this. This is partially because the game has a ton of music within it's archive, and it's all mislabeled. Most of it is a bunch of jingles that are only around a couple of seconds long. Interestingly, there are also some corrupt files, even though these were ripped straight from the archive! They shouldn't have any issues playing.
I've found some games keep their music in pieces, even if it's a rather long tune. Final Fight Streetwise, for example - several songs song are split up in various pieces, but the game plays them all sequentially. I think they did that so the game could switch to faster versions when you're surrounded by enemies and stuff like that. Instead of switching to an entirely new song from the start, it just starts in the closest section.

... have you tried this?

Even better, have you tried running the extracted WAVs through FFMPEG? That thing managed to convert some XBADPCM stuff for me. It might be able to auto-detect the sound format.
