As of late, it has been ridiculously cold where I am. If I stay out longer than 13.54 seconds, I will turn into an icicle. This is the type of weather I hate going out into since you have to suit up in layers to be warm. I hate that shit and its even worse when there's wind. I love the summertime when the sun is up high, bright and warm and I can just walk out in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.

In the next day or two, it is suppose to snow up to a foot. I'm neutral about it at the moment. If I don't have to walk to classes in it, I'll be happy. I'm happy .

Nope. I think the exact same thing.

Well, on top of that, it's not that I am in total opposition to the idea. I just don't see how porting DS titles to the Wii U is going to reel in a bunch of new customers that it needs.

Oh man, some of those dev and proto console units look really interesting. I swear, if I actually had money to piss, I would bid on those in a heart beat.

Actually, here is a genuine question for the Admins that I have pondered about and it is related to this topic. Do you ever delete old users? I'm not talking about someone who gets banned or something. Like let's say a user hasn't been active at all in the past 1000 days. Have you ever gone through and deleted some of those accounts based on inactivity or thought about doing it?

I'm just curious is all.

Well I never said I wanted to. I was just genuinely curious. Perhaps at one time, way back when, you guys wanted to keep a more active member list so you would weed out those who were inactive for like 3 years. BMF already put that idea to rest in his post above. I was just asking out of curiosity .

I just found out about this today via IGN. When I first tuned in at around 3pm, they were in Celadon City. As I am writing this post at 11:48pm, they are still in Celadon City...

The part that surprises me is not that they are still in Celadon City some 9 hours later. What surprises me the most is that, with 60,000+ people trying to play, they were able to leave Pallet Town. Let alone get 4 badges.

That makes sense to me. The fewer users there are trying to play, the easier it is to play although I'd still think it would be difficult to play even if it is just a handful of people.

How long have those other streams been running for? The one for Red Version says the playtime is over 6 days.

Hmm... I'm not playing anything big at the moment. For the past week I was playing Coin Rush in NSMB2. I realized I had some old street pass data from someone who got a little more than 13000 coins in the Mushroom Pack. It took a lot of tries but I was able to beat that record. I actually love Coin Rush. It feels refreshing for a Mario platformer and it might be the only reason I like the game. I didn't really enjoy NSMB or NSMBW. Its not that they were bad games but they just felt like rehashes of older Mario platformers I have already played.

The only game I have in the backlog at the moment is Rune Factory 4. I would like to get back to it but time always seems to escape me. Even more so now since I am about to get a lot busier. I'll get back to it at some point but who knows when that will be. Oh well.

I'm not reading anything particular at the moment but I have got Banshee's Last Cry on my reading list. If you want to be technical, its a VN but who cares. Reading is reading. I found out about it after learning the news that the development of Zero Escape 3 is currently in limbo. Its depressing news because I loved the first two VN in that series. Anyway though, I guess the reason I want to read Banshee's Last Cry is because the settings and atmosphere in the synopsis make it sound like a dark mystery (kind of like Zero Escape...). I love that type of stuff. I plan to get into it when I get some down time. That, unfortunately, won't be for awhile since I am about to have a boat load of work drop on me.

Wow. This is surprising to me. A 3D game on the Gameboy? That is pretty ambitious. I've never really heard of it or seen gameplay of it until now. I guess the fact that it was only released in Japan doesn't help.

Looks like an interesting tool. If I ever (hopefully) get back to contributing to TCRF, I'll give this tool a spin. It looks useful.

Oh Daytona USA. I'm so happy you brought that up cpu. One of my friends used to have this track playing in the background when he was working or whatnot:

<object width="420" height="315"><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/Zrtl41oZxOA?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

It brings back some good and some stressful memories. One of the good/funnier memories was that my friend has said that this track makes a good morning alarm clock. I imagine it would be near damn impossible to sleep through it .

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. Hold on a second. Are you trying to say that the something, something SM64, level viewer, something happened BEFORE general ROM hacking, TCRF and then more something? You mean to say that general ROM hacking, TCRF, something and THEN something, something SM64, level viewer and something is wrong??? Or do you mean to say that either the something, something SM64, level viewer, something, general ROM hacking, TCRF, something with something happened OR that something else just happened entirely???

We need the facts man.

Posted on 02-27-14 06:10:11 AM, in Nintendo shutting down DS/Wii gameservers (last edited by Cuber456 at 02-27-14 06:15:00 AM) Link
Ya I just got word of this news. It should be noted that the shutdown applies to ALL regions, not just Australia. If you still play Wii and/or DS games online, you better get your last play in.

While it is sad news, I'm not really surprised by this either. It was going to happen sooner or later in my honest opinion. The Wii and DS are consoles of the last generation and it costs money for Nintendo to keep servers for the online portions of those games running. They will probably be reutilized for Wii U and 3DS games instead. I'm not surprised that the online stores will still be operational for the time being. Compared to the former, Nintendo still makes money from them and they will probably last quite a while longer because of that.

I remember when the first online game for the DS was Mario Kart DS. I remember playing that game online so much. Arguably, I played Metroid Prime Hunters online even more. That game was really fun online and was the only reason I played it for so long since the single player mode was garbage in my opinion. Even playing against the CPUs in multiplayer was better than single player mode. I guess that this news means that the game will accumulate a ton of dust after online services shut down.

I'm surprised someone hasn't already done this type of stuff already considering the homebrew scene for each console.

I remember, ages ago, I once set up a wireless card on an old laptop to act as a hotspot. I then used Wireshark to analyze whatever packets were going into and out of the hotspot. After that I played MKDS over it and caught a ton of packets. I simply did it for fun.
