That's kind of lame. Its all a matter of personal taste but, when given the option, I'd much rather have a physical copy of a game vs a digital copy. To me, there is something that is more satisfying to be able to look at your gaming collection and pop disks/cartridges into a console. The only time I'd go for a digital copy of a game would be if there is no physical option or perhaps there is some benefit to the digital copy that the physical copy lacks.

That describes me as well. I've never been a serious collector but I never sell games or consoles/electronics I've come across. I still have my old GBC which still works fine despite the D pad being worn to hell. I also have at least one Nintendo handheld from the generations that followed. From any of the games I bought new, I managed to keep the original box arts and manuals. It kind of surprises me I never threw them away when I was younger but I'm glad I didn't. Since the DS and continuing with the 3DS, it makes little sense to throw away the box/case since it made a nice way to store game cards but the opposite is true with Game Boy games.

- The villain is capturing maidens in paintings, including Zelda. She has the power to turn into a drawing, which Link later obtains through a magical bracelet.
- The alternate world is called Lorule. (Get it?)
- We get a glimpse at Lorule's equivalent of Link.
All I can say is I want it even more now.
I was going to get this game regardless of what trailers Nintendo put up for it but the story/setting/game mechanics looks interesting. It will be a nice complement to ALTTP. Actually, what I think is the most interesting move on Nintendo's part is allowing you to borrow items early on in the game which can allow you to play the game non linearly. That is a bit of a unique feature for this game since non linear gameplay hasn't been (or at least intended) in a Zelda game since the Legend of Zelda (Or maybe the Adventure of Link?). Compared to the original Zelda though, I think it will be enjoyable here.

Whether the creator of this snake oil is tried in the UK or in Iraq doesn't really matter as I'm pretty sure either country will make sure that the collar on his shirt is tighter than it should be. Honestly, I want to know what will happen to the dipshit that gave this product the green light to be used in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It really is sad.

I don't even have Pokemon X or Y yet but I thought it would be wise to inform you guys who do have the game(s) that, according to IGN, there is a GAME BREAKING BUG. It is apparently triggered by saving in Lumiose City and it looks like your save file is completely bricked resulting in you having to start from scratch. Not sure how far in the game that city is but be aware. If any of you have the digital version of the game then it might not be a bad idea to use that save backup feature, that way if your save file does get bricked, you can just load the backup and not have to start from scratch. I mean, if this glitch happens in one city, what is to stop it from happening in other places?
I'm guessing that Nintendo will release a patch for the game at some point via the eshop but, at the moment, Nintendo has yet to acknowledge the bug.
...Also, is it me or are games having more game breaking bugs lately???....

Perhaps you are a person who can be super concentrated when studying for midterms and playing games but for me, starting a brand new game during the semester is like opening pandora's box and that box doesn't shut easily once opened.

Originally posted by Lunaria For reference, if you get water within electronics it's best to not try and start it as that may fry things.
Adding onto this, it is better to let the electronic(s) dry out before turning them on again as the liquid will create unintended shorts which could do who knows what. The more complex the electronic, the more likely something will go wrong. I once had an RC helicopter and crashed it into snow and it didn't take long for the snow to melt onto the PCB. The chopper was unresponsive. I then took a can of air spray and aired down the PCB and the chopper worked fine. Granted, you probably can't do that to the degree of the 3DS unless you are feeling adventurous but the moral is let it dry out.

Although this is a massive oversight, there's a makeshift fix.
So, the wait for a solution took less than one day. Good.
I'm still counting how much time it will take for an official "fix" to be made.
Its nice that someone found some sort of solution to this glitch. At least there is a way out but, in my opinion, it is fucking ridiculous that the game has barely been out for 4 days and there is already some huge glitch in the game. First SS and then this. Come on Nintendo, get your act together. There is nothing worse than pouring time into a game just to have it taken away by some unforeseen flaw. Worrying about these stupid glitches takes some of the fun out of the gameplay in the best case and in the worst case they make you stop playing the game.

Do remember we're talking about the developers that gave us Red/Blue: One of the buggiest games of all time where the number of programming glitches accessible to the player number in the hundreds (to thousands?). Every generation of Pokemon has had some really dumb glitches/oversight/flaw that messes something up. When a game is as popular as pokemon with millions of eyeballs on it, they'll just be discovered faster.
See:
The Laundry List that is RBY
Celebi Egg Glitch (GSC)
Berry Glitch (RS)
Thunderbolt Sound Glitch (FrLg)
RNG Seeding Glitch (E)
Pomeg Berry Glitch (E)
Surf outside the Walls (DP)
Ditto Glitch (DP)
Sky Drop Glitch (BW/BW2) - I'd like to note this one is special because Nintendo themselves had to ban this move from their tournaments.
There's more, but to say that Game Freak are a paragon of programming excellence without a history of game-breaking or dangerous bugs in their games is definitely not true. They're basically the Bethesda of Nintendo consoles.
I do understand that, any game, is going to have glitches in it no matter how much time and money is put into trying to find and fix said bugs. I mean, once a game is released, it will be played a magnitude more times and by more people then it ever would have in development. However, that doesn't alleviate the responsibility of the developer to try to find and fix those glitches. I can give some leeway. I understand that some glitches can be really specific and tricky to pull off to begin with where it requires the player to consciously know about the glitch. However, simply saving in a city and getting what appears to be a corrupt game file isn't acceptable to me. That is literally something ANYONE can do and on a whim. Perhaps there is more involved to this glitch than just saving in the city but I still think it is ridiculous that it exists. Perhaps that is just my point of view.

Originally posted by krutomisi yea I've saved/loaded several times in the city with no issues
I've saved in Lumiose City a fair number of times without any problems as well. It's not a simple matter of saving in the city that triggers the error.
Maybe make sure you have all the facts before deeming something unacceptable?
I'll say it again, if simply saving in a city gets what appears to be a corrupt game file then it isn't acceptable to me and I don't see why that should get a pass in any situation. However, it looks like that isn't the exact case as some people have mentioned. It appears that whatever causes the glitch is deeper than just that. From the way the glitch was explained/advertised, it made it seem that simply saving in that city corrupted the game.
I guess the real fun starts in figuring out under what conditions the glitch occurs.

I'm playing the spanish version of the proto, and found that there are text differences:
Proto version
Final version:
The best case scenario I can think of is that the MZM ROMs were actually dumped back in 2003/2004 and were just sitting around for the past 10 years on someone's hard drive or other storage device. As Sails already mentioned, in the best case scenario, the MF ROMs were dumped relatively recently.
It looks like you found a color text change. Looks like they changed the coloring to drop emphasis on some words. I don't know what those lines actually say since I can't read Spanish but I know that, at that point in the game, Samus is suppose to go open Security 1 locks to get to a data room to download bomb data. Of course, the security room isn't shown on the map. HOW CONVENIENT! There are probably other simple color changes to the text elsewhere as well so if you have eagle eyes, you might find more.
Expanding on the topic of unused, kargaroc386 found another unused room in MF that is both in the retail and prototype version of the ROM. It is easiest to see in the prototype ROMs of course. I'm posting this here so that it doesn't get forgotten about. Someone should add it to one of the MF pages.

...Am I the only one who thinks its sad that no page for the MZM protos has been created yet? If it were any other Nintendo prototype, it would have been documented on TCRF ages ago.................

@DruidVorse
Holy shit kid. How do you spot such tiny minuscule pixel differences? Like literally, the differences between the locks from the proto to the final are mere pixels. You have really good eyes . To show this off better, I ripped sprites for the locks more cleanly using a tile viewer.
Proto:
Final:
And ya, because the difference is so small to see with the naked eye, I've blown the pictures up so others may easily see.
Proto:
Final:
For those demo options you mention, I think it is really just the elevator background to the "cutscenes" when Samus is taking the elevator. When loading those demo options, I can't seem to get the correct palette for it in the tile viewer but here is a clearer picture using a different palette:
If loading any of the other demo scenes where Samus rides the elevator, you can get a other palettes:
Compare those images with the background in this ingame screenshot:
So those values D, E and F do go unused but I wouldn't say the background goes unused. Considering D through F just (incorrectly) load the elevator scene for 2 seconds and then bring you back to the debug config, these scenes look more like filler than something that got cut by the developers. Still unused in any case.
And on the test rooms, not too much to really comment about or anything else I can really add there. I've screwed around in those rooms as well though:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZpuzTsPMRQ
It is hard to explain it in a technical sense but I think the reason why you can "fall through the floor" is because the room is much taller than the camera allows it to be (aka, the camera is confined to scroll left and right) so if Samus ever goes higher than the camera allows, the game reloads her at the bottom and vise versa. Interestingly, you can kind of see this idea and effect at play in a TAS of MZM in the link below:
