So what do you do with a PS2 for $1.99? Gut it and stick a PC in there, duuuuuuuuuh. (It didn't work anyway.)
So has anyone built a PC in a gutted console? I know there was talk of an NES PC, and I saw pics five years ago of someone who did just this... I'm planning on using it as an HTPC, so I'm thinking Micro ITX board, TV-out, nice and small. Slimline DVD drive (more'n likely a DVD±RW, because that's what's out there), maybe slot-loading (because the bezel was just barely hanging on the old drive, ah well). Pico-PSU power supply, with brick to match, and stick a laptop HD in there.
So what do you suggest I go with, part-wise? Probably not going to get it until I sell some stuff, but I'm looking for fairly cheap, but more importantly good performance and QUIET. Since I can't very well stick a TV tuner card in there (although if there's room, maybe?) it'll only be a front-end MythTV unit once I get a back-end going. Also, what considerations should I make? |
