BTW, does anyone know an "FFCrono" from GameFAQs?

http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/50943.html?type=2

This guy appears to have a history of stealing codes from TCRF shortly after they've been posted and putting them on GameFAQs without crediting the source. I remember submitting some codes from Nintendo Power to GameFAQs years ago and back then there was a field on the submission form to credit your source. It looks like that's been taken out, because none of my old submissions show the source anymore like this:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/snes/588307-equinox/cheats

The way I found out about this is that I remembered seeing a "Level Select" code for HyperZone several years ago on some cheat site, but I could never get it to work. I was wondering if someone could verify that it does work and maybe I'm just entering it wrong, and when I went to look up the code, I was shocked to see that "3D Mode" code already there.

I guess there's nothing that can be done about it, but man does it piss me off.

Anyway, there's the supposed "Level Select" code:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/snes/588381-hyperzone/cheats

At the title screen press B, B, L, R, Left, Left, Select. Now you can push up to change levels.

When I push "Up" after entering that, all it does is move the cursor between "Start" and "Normal".

Edit: N/M. I'm an idiot. I didn't notice this was a poll.

Of those three, the only one I've had a lot experience with is Mario, so I'll probably go with that one by default.

Flying Omelette: no worries, that's me submitting the codes

Oops! I didn't realize that FFCrono was you. Sorry about that.

I guess the one problem with being a Flying Omelette is that occasionally, you will have egg on your face.

As for the level select code, I never thought to try it on the Japanese or PAL versions. I'll give it a go and find out.

That level select code doesn't seem to work on the PAL or Japanese versions, either. I think it's fake.

Man, that is hard to do, but I managed it on Area 3:

Geez, I thought I was done with this game, but..

Unused background tiles in the Bio Plant stage. Guess it really was going to have a more "organic" theme at some point.

Those are loaded with the sprites for the first boss. Seems it was maybe supposed to shoot miniature versions of itself at you? But it just shoots normal bullets.

NM: Those are used for the second time you fight that boss in Level 6. They're attached to its spokes.

I normally do not drink soft drinks, but in the rare cases that I do, it just really depends on what's available. I do like Coke Zero and Pepsi One and some flavors of Diet Dr. Pepper. Diet Moutain Dew isn't bad, either.

But most of the times if I drink any soda, it's because I'm at someone else's house and they have a 2 liter, and usually that won't be diet. In that case, I just try to limit how much I drink.

I don't know if you have already, but you can also try asking around the forums at GSHI for codes they don't have. Those guys helped me out a lot. If it weren't for them, I'd never have found Room 07-02 in Equinox.

After playing the American, European, and Japanese versions of HyperZone all to death for the past several weeks, I finally started a game I've never played before: Resident Evil 4, Gamecube version.

Well, this is what I get for complaining that Silent Hill 2 was too easy - RE4 is a LOT harder. I reached a boss that I saw no feasible way of beating on my low supplies, so I started over from the beginning and I'm trying to play more efficiently now. I also figured out how to harvest eggs from chickens, which helps a GREAT deal, because they only take one slot in inventory and the gold ones restore your health completely. The brown eggs give a reasonable HP boost, too.

Being a cat lover who gets all giddy whenever I see a cute kitty in a video game, I think I'd remember seeing that robot cat head if it was used.

There is a part where four Mamurana dolls appear inside the bell tower and circle the room, causing you to get pushed back out the door, right before you walk back in to fight them as the Mamurana Butterfly boss, but I can't remember if they used all of those sprites or not.

Maybe if you could put something horizontal through the scissors, so that it would look both like they're cutting it and make them look more like letter "T's".

Strange hidden programmer's message in Equinox's menu graphics:

Ste and John are certainly Ste Pickford and John Pickford of Software Creations, the game's developer, but what does "were eve ok" mean?

Edit: Might actually be "were 'ere" (Ste & John were here, ok).

The message was removed from the Japanese version, possibly because the letters/symbols for the Japanese dialogue took up the space where it was.

Was it the same "Graeme" as "Graeme Norgate", the game music composer?

I found the Pickford brothers' website and they have a whole section devoted to Equinox (as well as sections for their many other games). Maybe I should tell them I found their secret.

Some more stuff from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I need some confirmation on a couple of these...

I found one unused animation frame of the duck already, but this one doesn't seem to be used, either.

This "enemy" is found in the Desert Palace. In one room, they move vertically up and down the left and right walls and shoot cannonballs. However, I can't recall anyplace in the game (and certainly nowhere in that dungeon) where they are attached horizontally to any walls. Maybe there is some place and I'm just not remembering it?

Uh... I don't recall those small and large "meat" sprites. At first I thought it looked like the Enemy Bait from the first Zelda game, but since there are large and small kinds and they are stored with the large and small magic refill decanters, it's more likely that they were meant to restore health...

Yeah. Judging by where they're stored in memory (with the large and small magic refills), it certainly looks like enemies were originally supposed to drop small and large meat chunks for life refills (small would probably restore 1 heart, while large would restore several), but this was changed so that enemies only ever drop hearts and you only ever get 1 heart refilled from any defeated enemy.

Okay, thanks. I had a feeling they might be used somewhere that I just wasn't remembering. That's why I asked before posting them to the wiki. The only other place that was immediately coming to mind that had vertically-rolling cannonballs was the Eastern Palace, but they come out of a hole in the wall there.

Funny thing is, they're really just exactly the same sprites as the vertical versions, just flipped 90 degrees.

This is the SNES version. Generally, though, I've noticed that sprites are only ever flipped horizontally in ALttP. If there needs to be a horizontally-facing version of a vertically-facing object, or vice versa, there will be separate sprites for it.

Man, Gradius 3 is uneventful as far as unused stuff goes. Played through almost the whole game and found nothing. =(

On Ninja Gaiden 2's unused song,

"(Category. (Should be replaced with an OGG of just the unused song eventually, though.))"

I have an mp3 of it here. If someone wants to snag it and convert it, that would probably make that task a lot easier.

Although my computer (or Winamp, more or less) spontaneously decided it could now play ogg's after years of me fighting with it and getting no results, I still have no means of converting to ogg.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
