Hey, I go about the internet as Sister Miyagi, I'm a 25 year old guy from Illinois who graduated with a degree in telecommunications in December and is now working at Schnuck's. :suicide:
So yeah, I'm not used to making intro threads, where I come from they ban on site for that kind of thing, but I felt weird just jumping in here since you guys obviously know each other pretty well. If you're curious, I found this board from the Cutting Room Floor wiki because I'm a sperglord who loves that kind of thing. |

Do you have stairs in your house?
It's ok, I'm protected. :smugdra:
Banned for catchphrases.
Edit: Oh yeah, and I might contribute to the wiki, if I ever come up with anything good. Otherwise I could start stealing stuff from Sonic Retro and X-cult! |

Milk is pasteurized, it goes bad more based on when you open it than when it was made/bottled I've drank milk up to two weeks after the expiration date, and it was still good. Just give it a sniff, you'll definitely know if it's drinkable
Jelly doesn't really go bad if you keep it refrigerated - I'm pretty sure I have grape jelly from 2005, cause I hardly ever use it. I've had a jar of maraschino cherries for equally as long, since I only use them for Christmas baking. Too much sugar actually inhibits microorganism growth, that's why it's used to preserve things like fruit.
The expiration date on medicine is the date at which it's at 90% potency. You can definitely still use it, but it'll not be as strong. I'd still pass up on the Sudafed from 1997 (funny what you find when you clean out your cabinets!)
This is what happens when you grow up with cheapskate parents. If you're going to throw that food away, you better have a good reason! |

Fanboyism is dumb. If you like Mac, use it; if you don't, don't. Anything you want to do on one, you can do on the other (with possibly the exceptions of gaming and specialized business apps, if you don't want to use Boot Camp). And personally, I get confused as hell when I use a Mac, I find Windows much easier, because I've been using it for so long.
And Vista really didn't suck. It was pretty awesome. The problem is 1. Microsoft insisted it would run on a Pentium M with 1 gig of RAM when it definitely wouldn't, and 2. Microsoft finally got rid of some of the shitty practices from the 9x era and started doing things right, and people flipped shit because it was different. OMG I HAVE TO CLICK AN EXTRA BUTTON WHEN I INSTALL SOFTWARE? Clearly it's because Microsoft sucks, and not because there was a huge library of viruses for XP that installed silently in the background because all processes had elevated privileges! |

Yeah, I used to do a show on Sundays for like a year before it died. It kind of sucked, though. Who were you?
As far as SA, FYAD isn't funny anymore, GBS is full of smuglord aspie lolbertarian Rand-quoting assholes, the topic forums are usually very intelligent and informative, if a bit scornful of outsiders/those not making any effort to learn, and LF UBER ALLES.
My name comes from a thread in BYOB (another shitposting forum). I posted a thread letting the 10th person choose my new name, Kakua won, and after I rejected GAY 4 KAKUA, he picked Sister Miyagi. So yeah. |

When I worked at McDonald's, I could usually grab about $.50 every night from people who dropped change in the drive-thru, and another 15-25 cents from people who didn't want their change. I'd put it in a jar and take it to the bank to turn into bills, and put the money towards going to A-Cen in the spring. My record was 38 bucks. Last year, it was 8 bucks. The trials of having a real job. |

That says enough for me.
Came here to post this. And also what Bitmap said, about how, as a Christian, I don't see most of the stories in the Bible (especially Genesis) as being literal. They're folk stories, meant to impart a certain lesson and point of view about life. Also, the Weekly World News has reported Noah's Ark being found every year since I've been able to read, and they're at LEAST a half step above Fox News on the credibility scale. |

Windows 7 I guess tried to fix that by still giving you retardoadministrator access by default, but made everything convoluted to do anything ever, rather than having you on a plain limited account and having you use something like su to have a real administrator run a program as needed, like an installer, which windows does have with the right click -> run as administrator option, but administrator is STILL pretty limited in a lot of areas like modifying system files and stuff, but then you have free reign it seems in Program Files because shitty old programs want to be able to write to their own directory and there's no sandboxing for older apps (which is what they should've done for for compatibility in the first place... something like Wine where it has it's own virtual root and compatibility settings.).
The administrator account wasn't limited in Vista or 7. The difference between an account with admin privileges and a non-privileged account was you had to type the administrator password at the UAC prompt with a non-privileged account, while you just clicked a button with a privileged account. And Vista did do the virtual directory thing, invisibly redirecting things to a user's Documents and Settings directory (basically like /home). People who knew about it flipped shit because WAAAH ITS DIFFERENT BAWWW!
The whole thing seems like a fight between trying to keep stuff stupid and convenient and trying to make things more secure (though I guess in a lazy way.). Honestly, when it comes to security, they should be a bit harder on it and the users who find it inconvenient to have to run in a limited account and enter the administrator password to access folders outside of their Users folder should suck it up and get used to it. This one thing will probably protect against a large amount of viruses more than anything they've done so far.
Exactly my point. Microsoft took steps - baby steps, really - to make Windows more secure, and everyone from grandpas who only know "I click on the blue E to do internets" and tech-savvy people who should've known better flipped their shit.

Hey, guys. Haven't posted in a while, but I saw Rabidabd posted a tool for looking inside DS games, and I just had to take a peek at a copy of the Japanese Pokemon Black I had laying around. I think I found some interesting things, but I wanted to make sure before I put it on the wiki.
- logos (Japanese, of course) for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
-Kana and roman alphabet fonts - Especially the hiragana font looks hand-drawn, nothing like the font used in-game
-Graphics for Nintendo Wi-Fi setup in several languages - this one I'm most iffy on, because for all I know all Wi-Fi games have these graphics. It doesn't seem to be the whole set-up screen for most of the languages, and there's a lot more Japanese ones than any other language.
-This one I'm almost sure isn't used: graphics for a sound test!
What do you guys think? |
