Hello all. You can call me EpicGuy or Alex, either one is fine.

I'm originally from Wales, but am currently residing in a sleepy valley town in Oregon, USA. I've been playing video games of all genres --with the possible exception of shooters-- since I was 6 years old, and emulating since I was 10. Now, at 15, I've furthered my evolution into hacking, I suppose.

I've got a long way to go, but I'm hoping to create a hack as close to a brand new SM64 game as possible (new storyline, smooth stoytelling, updated graphics/music, etc.) for my Senior Project along with a few other fellow high schoolers with an interest in gaming and technology. TT64, has shown itself to be our best (easiest) bet. We're all still Freshmen, so there's a few years yet for VL-Tone to improve upon TT64, and become what I hope it will be; a user-friendly, all-access pass to the secrets of SM64.

My I.Q. is 157, so if I come across as condescending or arrogant at times, I apologize in advance. But, If anyone needs help with anything EXCEPT hacking, I'm your man.

I may have convinced my aforementioned friends to join up, too, so a few more faces might or might not pop in within a day or two.

Cheers!

Well, apparently I do, hence, arrogant and condescending. I believe that number gives me status over others. AS for its uniqueness, mine is but one out of a pool of infinite numerical values, all of which are unique. It is used to measure the value of my particular 'narrow cognitive abilities', and I was using it to illustrate how I might, in three years, go from knowing little to nothing about programming, to hopefully creating a brand new game. My ability to learn quickly will prove to be very useful in my endeavor, I should think.

Like I said, TT64 -seemed- to be our -easiest- bet, and it may at least be a good starter for getting into some more hardcore programming. So, either it'll be an excellent learning platform, or what we'll use to design the final product. The others have suggested we just design our own flash games, mostly because they fear some sort of Nintendo crackdown if we involve ourselves with hacking their games. And, there is still time for either consequence, I suppose. We'll just have to see how it plays out.

Wow, and I thought I had an ego.

I don't think the background haze compliments the course much. Mostly because the trees and warp pipes aren't affected by it, and look out of place. It isn't that dense in the original levels, so any particular reason why it was changed?

Bowsersbane did I decent job on his hack, Luigi's Mission. It's very rough around the edges, but it has potential.

@Vinnyboiler; Maybe he has to capture and hide the various caps around the castle before his future self (or past self? ) can get those last dozen or so stars to completely restore the castle. In this hack, rather than stars, he finds pieces of cloth that must be stitched together to create the caps. Three levels, seven pieces of cloth in each one, something along those lines. Just a suggestion.

I won't be, but I have convinced three others to quit this past year. Their grades have improved tremendously by doing so, and their felonies have decreased. Take that however you want, but I'll remain adamant in my belief that drugs, both medical and recreational, cloud the judgement of the consumer on too high (see what I did thar?) a level to be allowed. I value reason and logic, I've seen neither of those accomplished by a druggie.

Medford, Oregon had around 77,000 people in 2008, so I'd imagine it close to 80,000 now. The county (Jackson) had 205,000, also in 2008.

On this map:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/02/Oregon_population_map_2000.png

I'm in the reddish concentration in the middle near the bottom of the map, nestled about 25 miles north of the Oregon/Calif border. You can kinda see where Interstate-5 runs straight north towards Portland from us, most of the population centers are hugging it. Medford manages to keep the city footprint down (when sensibility gets elected) so we have a lot of fairly untouched woodland and forest areas close by. I take a great deal of pride in that.

I've been remodeling our house after some vandals decided it'd be fun to come in and smash it up when we were out for a week. May as well improve rather than just repair, right? When I'm not doing that I'm reading, writing, and attempting to fix my lack of technical computer knowledge.

Near the end of the summer my mother and I are going to climb all 9,500 foot of Mt. McLoughlin, near where we live. Neither of us were in the best of health when we started training for it over a year ago; I was overweight, and she'd smoked for 30 years. We've both come a long way in that time. She made the climb with her sister when she was 12, it'd be nice to see if we can manage it.

I've got *checks calendar* 61 more days of that.

No we didn't, though we have susupects. I've even got a flashlight they used sitting on my shelf right now, and I'd imagine their fingerprints are all over the batteries. It happened back in late February. Bastards nabbed my N64 and all my games, though.

On a better note, I'm also ordering a few hundred vuvuzelas for the sophomore class for next year.

-Monster Hunter Tri- Borrowed it from a friend a few days ago, and have been playing it off an on since. It seems a little "unfinished" and a lot of little things in it irritate me, but it's a good enough game thus far.

-Oracle of Ages- Could've opted to complete my latest replay file but it's been the better part of a year since I've picked it up, so I went ahead and started a new one. Made it up to the entrace of the Crown Dungeon.

-Link's Awakening DX- Played through from start to 100% completion yesterday. How much I remembered from that game surprised me.

-Chrono Trigger- Almost managed a single day completion today. I'm leaving out some of the end of game side-quests in favor of staying sane. Time travel. It's a hell of a thing.

-Uncharted- Bought both this game and the sequel last week. Played 'em both through and loved 'em both. A rare thing for me, considering the shooter elements they have to them.

-I Wanna Be the Guy- I wanna cry

Have... Have I even seen the sun this week?

2.8Gb? Kah, my internet would die before it could manage that. I doubt I'm in it, I scrutinize everyone one of those security updates, but the rest of my high school is probably in it.

I ticked Neopaganism because I agree most with some of their tenets.

My grandparents and the children from my grandmother's first marriage are all Mormon, but any part of my family tree after that is pretty much Agnostic or Atheist. My mother raised my sister and I with a lot of freedoms available to us.

I know people from all across the board, and we debate amongst ourselves often over who's 'right' and such, in good fun.

I'm not particularly new, as I registered in...April, I think? But I've yet to give an origin for my name, so I thought I'd toss it out there.

In late 2008, I started to get a bit into a game/sport called Geocaching. In it, you use a GPS receiver to locate hidden containers, or 'caches', that other players have hidden. The cache owners post information and coordinates for each of their caches on a website so that others may find them. It's essentially a modern-day treasure hunt.

On the websites that service Geocaching, players go by screen names just as most online communities do. I needed to think of what name I was going to be known as and remembered by, and for some reason, the box art for the North American release of Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest kept popping into my mind.

Also inexplicable to me; I thought that the pose taken by the character on the box was the most 'Epic' one you could possibly take.

And because I didn't like the default name of Benjamin that the character was given, I added something a bit more generic by tacking on 'Guy' to the end.

I like capitalizing things, so the 'G' remained as such.

I've since used that name on over a dozen websites. It's one of a handful of screen names I use: Rivistin, or the variants, Rivestin, Rivest, Rivisten, and Rivist. Klenine, Rindrint, Tower, Link (It's less common than you'd think), and Werd Smyth.

Most of those, however, are just from me thinking of names that no one in their right mind would use, because I was tired of re-entering information into online registration forms over and over again.

I notice the post layout, definitely. The difference is, I recognize color more so than the images/patterns in them. Like Metal_Man's contrasting white and black background, it took me a few months to closely look at it and say, "Hey, that's actually a gray-scaled image of snow and trees."

If their layout is plain or nonexistent, I'll go for their avatar colors, and identify them with those.

I went with Chaotic Neutral, seeing as I fall under either of the other two Chaotic alignments.

Then there's the possibility that all of this is actually an incredibly elaborate hallucination, and I am locked in a cell somewhere. Everything that is not currently visible to me doesn't exist within the hallucination, but everything I do see impacts my perceptions, giving the illusion that I am experiencing something real. Maybe all of you are merely constructs that believe themselves to be sentient, to further the realism.

Is seeing believing? Or just the opposite?
