It's been a while but...

Well the Xbone PR fallout is still happening and all's well that ends well... or something like that...

Also the DRM removal happened and people got pissed because they took away Family Sharing (which only really works with the DRM) to compensate. I don't know either.

There were a few other things between these two happenings but I forget what they were; I think one of them was a stupid Major Nelson quote though (though looking at it again it may have been before)

Sure why not, I guess? My brain was in mush mode when I read that and I had to read through it again before I understood what was going on =P And come to think of it, i never "properly" introduced myself anyway (and typically don't but whatever); I registered ages ago to post some sound sample rips I also posted elsewhere, then just lurked the TCRF boards until I lost my password in a hard drive crash :/ Though this post may be my brain being mush gain (hi it's 3:32 AM) so I'm not sure if you want this kind of a reply but whatever

I am andlabs (real name Pietro Gagliardi) and I have been around =P Most of my game-related technical knowledge rests in the Genesis, though I have also looked in arcade games and recently started looking into SNES games as well. I am mainly a software programmer and musician, though I have been severely out of practice in music and am only now getting back into actually putting music down on something other than my brain or a recording of humming. I'm not knowledgeable in movies/actors, television shows/anime, etc. and missed out on lots of video games, though I'd really like to get to know all the systems I missed, and the 3DS I just got a few days ago marks the first time I not only owned a modern video game console but also me being smart enough to not buy shovelware for it =P (The Genesis is the focus of my research and knowledge because it was the first system I had and the system for which I had the most games I regularly played, but I had it around 1999-2001 when it no longer mattered.) There's a lot more I haven't said so far but this is getting rather long so =P

As for coming here, I come from Sonic Retro, where I am a wiki sysop; this was how I got to know Xkeeper (and through him Jul). Then when the current TCRF was launched I umped on early on (I think), staying in the IRC channel and contributing both content and discussion =P Recently I decided to try lurking the rest of the board more, oeh, here I am now. I'm active on a bunch of channels in IRC as well. I... guess that's it for now?

Maybe this could be made into some extension in the next version of DeSmuME, such as in the Tools menu? I imagine being able to modify the projection in real time like that would be very handy to homebrew development in any case...

How easy would it be to adjust the matrix to rotate the room at 90 degree angles, which I think would make map editing somewhat easier? Does the code you say exists in the Gen IV games let you do that? (I haven't played either Gen IV or V yet, sorry... I have a 3DS now, though, so)

Hey guys, remember this, the unreleased Mega Drive port of the SNES game Time Trax that has new music by Tim Follin? Well some guys over at SegaAge managed to get the development files and provide a ROM at last, and yes it has the music intact! It also seems to be an unmodified ROM (from what I can tell by looking at the binary and starting the game). BIIIIIIIIIIIIG kudos to them for this, and I'll be sure to check out that (custom) sound driver! =P

Might as well toss something in:

Zim: though it's promoted as a desktop wiki, I've used it as a notepad for long-term lists (my Wii and DS to-get lists, a general TODO list, some potential program ideas, etc.). It has a checkbox list feature too, which is nice. Automatic saving is a plus. It might be useful to some people in other ways too? =P

A few months ago, Foxhack got his hands on a prototype of Madden NFL 99 for the N64 and loaned it to our Joe to dump. He says he released the ROM somewhere but can't find where; I've had the ROM ready to mirror for a while, so now that I have the Lufia 2 and Metroid GBA protos mirrored I'll also do the same (especially since they were given the OK to releae the cart).

This is a bad idea, if only because you're likely going to have to deal with tools written in multiple programming languages with different APIs (but there are other reasons); it'll liely be a waste of time for litle gin, as people may likely just continue using the tools separately (especially since those will be developed independently from your thing).

A better option would be to write your own editor from scratch, maybe using existing code as a technical reference at the most. Sure, it will likely take longer, but it'll be a major learning experience (for things like 3D programming), the final product could potentially be far more robust an will definitely be more closely integrated and unified than just slapping a bunch of unrelated tools together, and you'll have a sense of pride knowing you accomplished a task as seemingly daunting as this. Try that instead.
