Super long post time!
First off,
I got the tileset to work with both 5.0 and 5.2   (or whatever its number is)
That next revision of the editor has some neato new features ~
Secondly,
how do you make the ground where you can
walk around in the bottom and only stand on the top?
I know I saw how to once but I forget where ...
And finally --
When NSMB loads the grassland tiles,
it flips the hills and corners and uses the
same tile for both directions.
Unfortunately, the tiles I'm using don't fit in when
they are a flipped backwards; it screws up the pattern.
I'm guessing that to fix that I have to add more
objects to the tileset, one for left and right facing edges.
And well, I have almost no idea on how to do that

I don't know if it helps,
but tahaxan tihaxa has a squeak squad plugin,
allowing it to load some of the graphics.
So are you attempting to create a level editor?
because that would be pretty awesome

So I need to --
* cram the new tiles in to the gray area in the exported png
* give them the same behaviors as the flipped version
            - but keep the x flip off
* and then place them in the level like normal
* then it would work a nice and nonpatternbreaky
And if one deletes repeated sprites, it'll open up more gray area --
riiiiiiiiiiiight?

try installing tortoise svn,
and then tell it to do the checkout from :
http://nsmb-editor.googlecode.com/svn/trunk
The resulting exe is buried somewheres in the files at :
~\NSMBe4\bin\Release\NSMBe5.exe
I have a working version,
but I have no idea how many of the files it's dependent on
(so I cannot send it along)

and it was actually pretty nice for a computer back then.
But ME wasn't.

Right click on the folder you want to dump the editor to, and hit svn checkout.
