I joined Incarnation 3 back in the May of 2006. I'm pretty sure I was doing an image search for Mario sprites, and I found the Mario ranks page. I thought they looked cool, so my 12 year old self was enticed to join and talk about video games. I was intrigued by the ROM hacking scene, but I never got into it personally.

During this time, I also joined a few of the very small splinter communities, like Zachio's board, and made some closer friendships than I felt was possible on Acmlm's board. Unfortunately, both the communities and the friendships never seemed to last for very long, but they probably played a part in why I stayed with Acmlm's board in the first place.

After the fall of Incarnation 3, I moved on to Acmlm's Board II, as it was called at the time. I gradually lost interest in the community and what seemed like constant drama among the staff, so shortly after the creation of Jul and the takeover of board2, I left the community for a while.

A few months later, I rejoined Jul, and I've been here ever since.

This is A Good Bundle. A bunch of creators are sharing their works to combat some of the ugliness in our world.

100% of the proceeds from this bundle will be split 50-50 between the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) and Planned Parenthood.


There are levels at $2, $8, and $20, each with a lot of good content. Everything at the $2 level is "name your own price" with no minimum, so you could get anything from that list for free if you wanted. However, there's still $122 worth of content at the $8 level, and there's $471 worth of content at the $20 level, so it's a pretty good deal.

Regardless, it's for a good cause, so I'm sure any donation would be worth it.

Since I'm on break, I've had the rare occasion to start going through my Steam backlog. I've owned some of these games for years now, but I'm just getting around to them.

  • Darksiders - This is the best Zelda game I've played in a while. The overall demonic and violent aesthetic of the game is a little silly, but it doesn't take itself too seriously for it to be a problem. Hacking and slashing is pretty satisfying, at least.

  • Titan Quest - This is the best Diablo game I've played in a while. The mythological setting is appreciated when most other western RPGs are D&D flavored. My favorite thing about it is that your inventory isn't your worst enemy in this game.

  • Red Faction Guerrilla - This is the best Grand Theft Auto game I've played in a while. The main appeal of the game is that just about everything is highly destructible, so you can live your dream of demolishing an entire building with a sledgehammer. The missions are cool too, I guess.

  • Read Only Memories - This is the best... Actually, I don't play many games like this, so I have little to compare it to. Regardless, it's a really good visual novel / point & click adventure. The characters and the non-dystopian cyberpunk setting are pretty original and charming, and it's all tied together with an interesting plot. I also appreciate the level of diversity expressed in the game, but it's a good experience either way.

This is a famous open-ended puzzle. The challenge is to name three foods where each pair taste delicious together, yet all three together are disgusting. In other words, food A tastes good with food B, food B tastes good with food C, and food C tastes good with food A, yet you would never eat foods A, B, and C all together.

This is a lot harder than it sounds at first. When a solution seems obvious, people usually overlook one of the pairs. For example, milk is good with tea, and lemon is good with tea, so it's tempting to think milk + lemon + tea is an answer, since that would be gross. However, milk is bad with lemon, so it doesn't work. You have to be careful about checking all three pairs.

Naturally, this is subjective, but even on an individual level, this sort of triad seems rare or even impossible. I, personally, can't think of any good answers, but I'm curious to see what you all think.

The amount of each food is the amount you would add to make it sufficiently delicious, as long as you add enough of it to be noticeable. That is, I wouldn't call a cup of tea with a single grain of salt to be a true combination of tea and salt.

There are certainly reasonable arguments that this is "impossible" in general, but I'm curious to see what you all think they might be.
