there's another game i remember existing on RealArcade but i always forget what it was called
it was like this puzzle/RTS hybrid that took place on mars or something, and you had to place these gray tetromino-like wall pieces to surround your guys to keep them safe from attacking aliens or something. i think it had scoring based on how many people you saved at once before the inner part of the wall gets obstructed ____________________ |

i used to have a real aversion to mirrors until i got myself into things like shaving to make myself look less like a corpse, while also getting a grip on in-person social anxiety in general
i still don't make many silly faces but every so often i'll give myself a deadpan stare and be like "bitch." and see how long i can avoid cracking a smile ____________________ |

i finished a game called Monster Sanctuary recently and it was pretty great! it would be reductive to compare it to Pokemon or Dragon Quest Monsters because it has too many strengths of its own, but it is somewhere near them in concept i suppose
every monster has a skill tree that makes them all viable for some purpose or another, and the game is designed so that you'll organically find synergies that you can build a team with. and you'll probably want to, because enemy levels scale by your own and the difficulty can ramp up very quickly if you don't take the time to sort out your team composition. there are still a few monsters who may seem overly important due to their versatility (namely Caraglow and Sutsune) but i found myself depending on them less and less as i thought more about synergies between all 3 monsters on my front line basically it's a monster RPG that isn't perpetually trapped in the 90s and it's fun and refreshing to play apart from that, i've just been playing around with this AI Dungeon game. it's effectively an AI that makes up fiction based on the user's input. you can establish a setting or scenario and direct the AI's output as much or as little as you see fit. like, in addition to being able to edit the story text directly, you can reroll the latest AI output or undo to an earlier point in the story if a certain plot element isn't working out with that said, i sometimes have trouble getting it to organically remember the specifics of the character i'm playing as, so the AI tends to lose track of my character's name, pronouns, race, etc. despite these things being laid out in the AI memory field ____________________ |

all of my other gripes with modern web design are negligible compared to infinite scrolling
what a great fucking way to bloat memory usage and then guarantee you lose your place when the page inevitably has to be refreshed ____________________ |

unfortunately you've only narrowed the possibilities down to like a few thousand, as you may as well be describing The Legend of Zelda or its sequel. but here are a few other NES games off the top of my head that may fit the bill:
Crystalis Adventures of Lolo Nightshade Clash at Demonhead Magic of Scheherazade Willow Gremlins 2 Ys Faria Arkista's Ring Grand Master i'm not very well-versed in the Sega side of the era, so if it turns out to be some obscure Sega game i probably wouldn't have played it ____________________ |

shortly after the Wii U was announced, i had an idea pop in my head for a hybrid console that was made up of simplified modular input/output components that you could snap together yourself and play however you wanted. if this sounds a lot like the Nintendo Switch, well, it's just an easy conclusion to draw from looking at Nintendo's history of weird hardware gimmicks
anyway, my idea was a little more freeform. the controller components would come in two varieties: face components could be linked together freely, and consist of individual things like d-pads, joysticks, ABXY, touch screens, trackballs, fight sticks, and whatever else one might want to play a game with. since these components likely vary in size, there would probably have to be some kind of grid-based form factor where they can plug in together neatly to form stable controllers side components attach in the same way as face components but are the "dead ends" so to speak. these consist of things like grips, shoulder buttons, infrared sensors, wireless adapters, AC adapters, battery compartments, USB ports, and so on the main flaw of this design is that the more flexible the components are, the more connectors you have to manufacture for each one. like even going with bare minimum triangular face components, they would need to be able to interface in three directions, and if they're a larger component they might need to have multiple ports on each side, and every port must be able to distribute a large variety of information (whether it's from input, USB, HDMI, etc.) freely between the components. i'm not much of a hardware geek but in the foreseeable future i can only see this level of flexibility culminating in something that's extremely expensive, extremely fragile, and extremely inaccessible to all but the techiest of bros the Nintendo Switch is a pretty sweet compromise ____________________ |
