I take it that you meant to do that, Keitaro?

If it's a girl bat... Eliza-bat?

To hook onto this: I have never been more satisfied with waggle than the first time I played No More Heroes, and had to forcibly slash down enemies at the end of a long combo. It STILL feels good to do that.

On the main topic of conversation: I bought Dark Souls while the pseudo-ink was still wet on the first thread, and I'm glad I did -- I see hours and hours of maddening entertainment coming out of this game, without an end in sight.

As for the legion of FPSes, I plan on passing on most of them just because I don't really enjoy them that much. Too much emphasis on multiplayer, not enough emphasis on original storytelling. You can only say "Go over there and shoot those dudes" in so many different ways.

Note how the word "popular" didn't enter this post in the slightest. To hammer in what everyone else has already said, the popularity of the games is not the main draw for purchasing them. It's whether or not we actually enjoy them. Hell, when I'm not playing Dark Souls, I've been playing Kamen Rider: All Riders Generations for the DS, and that's a *licensed game* based off of a popular children's show. Why am I playing something that's usually -bound- to be garbage? Because it's fun, and I enjoy it.

EDIT:

Have you played Nier yet? Honestly, it's the best non-Zelda Zelda game ever made. :p I'll agree that the best *real* 3D Zelda game is Windwaker, though.

Also, there is a wonderful lack of fanservice in the older version.

Tex Avery would like to have a word with you. :p

The most striking thing about the first video is the striking contrast between the dream sequences and the normal sequences, in that the dreams look like they have actual effort put into them. :p

Posted on 10-14-11 08:22:46 AM, in What TV series are you following right now? Link
I've been watching... lots and lots of Tokusatsu.

Every week, me and my girlfriend curl up on the couch and watch the newest episodes of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (think: Power Rangers but space pirates) and Kamen Rider Fourze (Think: Man in silly astronaut/bug suit beats the hell out of other men in rubber suits). When we're not watching that, we're either going through the back catalog of Super Sentai or Kamen Rider series. D: With 35 years of Super Sentai and 40 years of Kamen Rider, that's a helluva lot of ground to cover.

For those not in the know: Super Sentai is a long-running series of Japanese children's shows involving a team of 3-7 costumed superheroes fighting a rubber monster of the week, and then finishing it off in a big robot. The 16th Super Sentai series, Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger, was adapted into Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. :x The current Power Rangers series (Samurai) is based off the 33rd series, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger.

Kamen Rider, on the other hand, has spent almost all of its time in Japan, and usually focuses on a sole man-in-rubber-suit fighting the monster of the week, without any giant robot fightan. It's also been adapted twice for the US, once in 1995 (Saban's Masked Rider, a retrofitting of 1987's Kamen Rider Black), and once in 2009 (Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, a much closer adaptation of Kamen Rider Ryuki).

Whoa, that came out a lot more wordy than I wanted it to.
