"● Water now evaporates when it reaches the underworld."

Does this mean the thread title is due for a change?

I'm not a ROM hacker by any stretch and therefore don't really feel comfortable enough to edit the wiki, but I am very familiar with the game and have experimented with the debug menu several times before, so I might be able to help document things or identify unused content.

I'd like to offer my help, if it's needed.

Hey there, and welcome to the board.

By and large, if your'e familiar with the game and the debug menu, and you realize "this isn't on the wiki," then your help is automatically needed. :x If you aren't sure on how to properly edit a page, you can always just do an infodump on a Notes: page or the game's Talk: page, and someone better-versed in Wiki magic will clean it up.

short version: Whoa, wrong kanji. :x I'm letting the summer break get to me.

making sure I understood: "Eigo ga (wrong kanji)ru" isn't right. "Eigo ga wakaru" to "eigo ga (geru?)" are correct. We understand english. But we don't write it. "

That's also read as わかる. Isn't it great how there's three ways to write what seems like the same word? (Hmm, what other language do we know that has words like that?)

At least with Japanese you can use 分かる all the time and still be right.

I was over-relying on NJstar and went "hm, that looks right." Completely and totally forgetting that I learned 分かる last semester. D: Thank you for the helpful method of correction, though -- reinforcing learning by making me read it the hard way. :x You're a bro, sir.

This is NJstar -- it's a Japanese word processor for those of us who don't know how to use the proper IME-thingie. :x Just, my dictionary on it isn't working, so I need to rely on my own memory to make sure I typed in the right word. >>;

I fixed that for you, bro. >>; He's Solid Snake. He brings down gigantic walking nucllear-equipped battle tanks *by himself.* Expecting him to be balanced in a party-oriented fighting game series *known* for being about as balanced as MvC2 is just silly.

That said... Sakurai didn't even want to make Brawl at first. I'm almost certain the next game is going to be the Beautiful Katamari of SSBB -- a game you can tell was a forced endeavor.

Whoa, hold up. I think the nature of my joke just got interpreted as something hostile, and I wanna be super-clear that it wasn't meant as such. >>;

Some explanations of the joke, aside from "Hurr, Snake is stupidly powerful in his own game-universe."

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has no sense of game balance. Out of a roster of over 50 characters, 5-7 of them are viable in any form of competitive play. That is poor balance and bad game design, especially since MvC2 is (supposedly) designed from the standpoint of "Let's make a competitive fighting game for tournament purposes." I *agree with your point* about Brawl being unbalanced. I was just making a joke about Snake.

Meanwhile, although this isn't a defense of the game: Brawl isn't a competitive fighting game. I don't care how much the tourney players want to dress it up as one, it isn't. It's a party game. Almost all the design cues -- from the stages that are always banned, to the lax attitude on relative character strength, to the Final Smashes, to the items and assist trophies -- all of these elements are choices that intentionally make the game more chaotic, unpredictable and exciting to play in a party atmosphere. And even if you take away *most* of the random aspects, you still have that ridiculous balance problem with the characters themselves, which can be remedied... by all of those random aspects you have to strip away to make the game "competitive."

Smash Brothers is a party game series. If you want serious attitudes towards game balance and complex strategies, play a fighting game. Meanwhile, I'm gonna turn all the items on "High" and play as Ganondorf on Rainbow Cruise, on a ten-minute coin match. :x

(minor edit: broke my italics tag. D: and made an emoticon in my edit notice. AND I made a mistake. Goddamn it three edits. Sorry!)
