I love Steins;Gate, so as a result I kind of wish that I liked Dr. Pepper, although no matter how many times I try I can't force myself to drink an entire bottle of it. I guess the taste just isn't for me, either that or I lack the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the complex flavors it contains.

I used to drink a lot of root beer, although like others who have posted in this thread I'm not as crazy about soft drinks these days as I once was. Now I will usually reach for a bottle of water instead.

Also, the first thing that I thought about when I read the thread title is how where I live, it is much more commonly called "pop" than soda. Yesterday I returned from a short trip to the US, and while away there were a few instances where I said pop instead of soda while at a restaurant, which would almost always result in a completely confused look from whoever I was talking to.

I've made a few levels, although my favorite one is an SMB3 styled ghost house that requires the player to use a combination of different items to reach the goal. It seems really short at first, although it may take you a few tries to put all of the pieces together!

I remember being excited back in the day that I might finally hit 5000 posts on a message board, which is something that I'd never done before. Unfortunately with the way things have been going, that might have to be a goal that I take to my grave.

In what context will it be mentioned in the panel? Japanese can be very loosely translated at times depending on context, so it would be helpful to know. "ねこだよ/Neko dayo" does indeed translate into "I'm a cat" if it is clear that the person is saying it as a means of describing what they are, although it could also mean "It's a cat!" depending on the context. The "~ん/~n" does not directly translate into anything, and rather is just appended onto the end of the phrase for added cuteness. The "Whee!" in your translation is there as a means of replicating the cuteness that is lost as a result of there not being any equivalent way to represent the ~ん in English.

I hope that helps a little bit.

Happy birthday Jul!

It's a pretty funny coincidence that today before seeing this thread I became strangely nostalgic for the past. I went for a walk around my neighbourhood, looking at the houses of friends I haven't talked to since elementary school, or the homes of friends who moved away yet I still communicate with online. The fact that I'm replaying LoZ: Wind Waker at the moment probably has something to do with it, I really miss that feeling of rushing home with friends after school and playing one of the many great multiplayer games that the N64 and GCN offered with them. The times have certainly changed a lot.

Acmlm's Board and Jul were really my first big steps into the online world, and as cheesy as it sounds I feel like I owe the communities credit for helping me become who I am today. I learned a lot about a lot of things while reading through the all-encompassing forums that the boards possessed, and most importantly I think they contributed greatly to my ability to communicate intelligibly. I wanted to be a part of the community, and as such I quickly got over my desire to talk in leet speak and broken sentences. For the person who has read less novels than you can count with fingers on your hands, I'd say my English language ability is pretty darn good.

It's a shame that message boards have been left in such a strange state of limbo though, with social networking taking away many of the oldbies, and newbies not having much of a desire to join old-school message boards because of such modern platforms. When I got my first computer in 2003 message boards were where it was at, and I'll always be happy that I was able to grow up during that time and experience them in their prime.

Came here to say this, glad I'm not alone haha. Although maybe the 95% part is a little high.

I'm not sure why I did this so often. I guess I would type up a post, and then worry that it was dumb or possibly just restating things that had already been said. Even the times that I do make it to hitting the post button, I usually can't help but still have those thoughts.

However, one thing that 95% of my posts do contain is the smiley. I've always loved it, and I guess I like adding it in to ensure that people don't interpret the things that I say as super serious or strict. I'm a very upbeat person in real life and I suppose that's hard to convey through text sometimes.

Imageshack really takes me back, it was the first site I ever used for uploading images to share with others. I never really liked Photobucket for whatever reason, so I guess that kind of saved me from having to deal with this whole mess now. I currently use Postimage which is really reminiscent of how Imageshack once was.
