Tina (yes, that one) was / is somewhat based on the idea of a human-like robot that could be piloted from the inside, loosely based on Gundam-style mechas. I think a certain someone in this thread may or may not have a record of her, though of course it is quite old.

It's actually kind of funny that, even though I don't have any real lore about my characters, there's a decent amount of history that came about just from how the interacted with others and grew over the years.

In that way, a lot of their design isn't even really mine, so to speak. There wasn't any grand plan by yrs.truly, there wasn't any in-depth storytelling about their past or origins or motives or desires; they were, and still are, to a degree, more like a canvas that gets painted on. Some things stay and are incorporated, some things are removed and erased.



Even X's design is just "I like these parts of (A), (B), and (C), and so I took those and added some spice of my own".

Disgaea's Male Warrior class, Draco Centauros, and...?

i'm not even sure why i still have disgaea 6 going, other than i guess it's an idle game that i haven't forgotten about yet. the game timer is probably 500 hours, now

i haven't bothered to pop rakasha baal yet, just getting a bunch of item points for no real reason

the game is over, but i guess it's like progress quest in that i just kinda look at it every now and then to see if it's broken and otherwise leave it alone

here's an article from vice, with some actual details instead of a shoddily written fart:

Dell Can't Sell This Gaming PC in California Because It Uses Too Much Power
"This was driven by the California Energy Commission (CEC) Tier 2 implementation that defined a mandatory energy efficiency standard for PCs – including desktops, AIOs and mobile gaming systems,” Dell told Motherboard in an email. “This was put into effect on July 1, 2021. Select configurations of the Alienware Aurora R10 and R12 were the only impacted systems across Dell and Alienware."

The California restrictions are complicated and specific, but most gaming machines manufactured between January 1, 2019 and July 1,2021 can use no more than 50, 80, or 100 kWH a year. Anything made after July 1 will be further restricted to 50, 60, or 70 kWH a year.

“To be sold or offered for sale in California manufacturers must test products at a CEC-approved laboratory and receive third-party certification,” the CEC told Motherboard in an email. “Once certified, manufacturers are required to submit their documentation and data to the CEC to be uploaded into the agency's online [database].”

According to Dell’s spec sheet, the Alienware rigs consume 63 kWH a year when they’re idle and 563 kWH a year when the CPU is stressed.

To me it feels like a knee-jerk reaction to crypto and the graphics cards that are in there.

i mean, on its face, i agree that this is pretty dumb. i'm not sure exactly what the law says or just how egregious alienware's hardware is (probably very given its Gamer Tech™!) but i imagine this is the kind of thing that will be ironed out given how many large computer companies happen to reside in these states


a better idea would be focusing on the actual power draw from households or adding pricing tiers or the like, but california isn't really known for its good lawmaking
