I hate calling people I don't know. Just HATE it. :x Being called is fine and so is calling people I do know.
I've also got a fear of being alone. It's not so much a fear as a dislike, but I don't like it when I don't have people I know around or to talk to. That's why at college late at night I'm glad I'm on IRC because I have friends to chat with. One night I remember getting really sad because of this...
Also when I was like 3-4 I recall being terrified of the whale in Pinocchio.

I am almost the same way, but I don't like calling people that I do know and visa versa. And I used to talk on the phone all the time when I was younger, but now, I can't stand it.

Balloons. Everytime I see one, I try to stay at least few meters away from it. I just hate when they blow up without warning
Heights.
Sharp stuff.
Big dogs, but luckily, I've almost got rid of it. I still back off a bit when a big dog runs towards me.

Expand this into "anything that makes a sudden, unexpected loud noise" for me. I don't know if I could go back to being a movie theater projectionist because the xenon (?) bulbs they use go BANG when they burn out. Not fun.

You might be autistic.
Originally posted by Dr. Sophie That reminds me of that time in 1999 or so when I had a blade of a small pair of scissors stuck in my right hand, in that little piece of skin between the little and ring finger. Fun times. :x
That happened to me while I was trying to cut a hole through stiff paper, and all I had was scissors. I rubbed the paper against the scissors, and didn't even notice that it broke my skin until I looked at it. Didn't hurt, and I just went "Huh. Can I have a band-aid, please?"
Anyways, actual content now. I have this strange fear of something being directly behind me. I don't show it much, but it creeps me out to no end. When my back's not against something... yeah.
Also, schizophrenia seems completely irrational to me, even though I might have it. My mom told me that my brother thought his leg was eating him from the inside out, and I just went "but there's no possible way that could happen" in the logical male mindset.

I'm curious as to what you mean by this. Are you suggesting that a logical female mindset would come up with a different response, or, what? |

No, I just mean that my brother didn't think the same thing. I saw in Misfile that the stereotypical mindset for a guy is logical, and I was being pretty logical there. I guess that's the refrence. Misfile also states that the female mindset is stereotypically emotional.

The emergency broadcast/alert test pattern still creeps me out a bit.
I hate loud noises, too. I always jump at a loud noise. It's why I hate getting on the subway at the terminus of the line (the trains pull in and release brake pressure when they stop); the sound the brakes make on older subway car models is really annoying too.
I also have the slight fear of, of all things, sleep. It's just... a little creepy to think that we're basically going into a coma for eight or so hours, hallucinating vividly for parts of it.

Indeed, I do have quite a few traits and attributes that relate to autistic behavior, however this is not because of autism itself, but something else. I won't go into further detail about this, though.

Same here. It's gotten better, but I'm still avoiding them for the most part.
Also something I forgot to mention in my previous post: I have this really annoying fear of making mistakes. For example, I can't submit any post here without worrying whether it (the post) will really be OK or not, and I'm also quadruple-checking everything for possible mistakes or sentences where I could express myself in some better way. It's really annoying. I often spend dozens of minutes just writing the simplest posts.
It's gotten better, yes (I mean, I have 80 posts now, something I couldn't even imagine a year ago or so) but it's still present for the most part |

You could probably blame that on having sliced the part of my hand between thumb and index open with a very large knife (by accident, of course) and having had a pair of scissors snap in half, sending the blade shooting off while trying to open fucking blister packaging.
Have I mentioned that I hate blister packaging yet?
Fuck, I hate blister packaging. Last time part of it shattered. Yay for shrapnel...

Using Skype (or something similar) is usually fine, though, as long as I personally know the person/people I'm talking with (and even then it's kind of difficult)
I hate telephones.... although I'm getting better. I can actually use my headset while gaming now.
My phone conversations usually last less than 30 seconds. Anything more gets awkward.

That damn thing used to creep me out when I was little. I used to be extremely paranoid when the wind would pick up, so I found myself falling asleep to the weather channel a lot.

When I was about three or four, lava in games scared the hell out of me for some reason.
I'm afraid of sharp things, though (I HATE things piercing my skin) and I sometimes feel as if there's a major problem that might require surgery at some point on random various things, which can partly be blamed on my 2005-2006 ear troubles. I do miss the incredible dreams I had around that point, though

Even though I wasn't actually afraid of them, suddenly being frozen and hearing that scream would always freak me out. The surprise humping was lovely, too.
Several years back, I saw Chrono Trigger for the first time. I was scared of it--especially the Millennial Fair. It wasn't even that horror tent, but the combination of the text boxes, greenness of the trees, and that black border around the screen, I think. Definitely glad that I got over it by the next day or so.
Super Mario World's Special World? Yeah, in addition to the keyholes, I was afraid of the music (I couldn't stand the SMB theme coming in either, wtf) and the flashing "SPECIAL"
Oh, and this one photo of me, as a baby, with one of my eyes closed and my mouth open? I was terrified of that, too.
I was so tender and fucked up as a child

If you want to dream about a specific thing, think about it a lot before you go to sleep. Maybe talk to yourself about it. Works for me.

| | I continually, whenever I go to sleep, get these sudden fears of people dying, people attacking me, and other such things. Sometimes, I end up lying in bed for ages, staring at the darkness around me, jumping at the tiniest sound, afraid to sleep in case something bad happens.
And then I also occasionally start to worry about my existence. But that's kinda crazy.
