So, I work as a stock clerk in a state-wide grocery store chain. As a stock clerk, I'm usually stuck walking around (although I should be taking breaks when necessary asdfasgasdg) checking crap on the aisles and generally working the floor (as well as collecting buggies outside, joy.)
Now, my manager is nice and all. Since she'll often send some of us home whenever there's nothing happening at the store, or allowing us to leave early should most of the floor has been worked (aisle-blocking, dust/regular mopping and other mundane tasks.) And, just as I was ready to go... a shop-back comes in! ![]() A "shop back" is just where a customer cannot afford to purchase the groceries. As a result, they leave empty-handed, and a stocker has to return everything to the shelves. Luckily I have a good portion of the store memorized, so this isn't a problem. Oh joy... ____________________ |

If I could use my laptop or play video games during this nothing, it'd be just fine, but no.

I mean, come on, why wouldn't you not count your money before handing it over?
