It's amazing art, and he really needs help fast so he can get to Japan and go on this course he got a scholarship for. He needs money for the plane ticket and other stuff though... For a mere $7 you can get an amazing poster that I had as my wallpaper for a long time, and other small prices for great prints. He has a very well drawn and hilarious comic, and needs as much help as possible. He's not asking for much, even though in the end he needs a lot. Think about it? In the end, he needs around $2,000, so give him some help! The guy is even selling almost everything he owns, his DS, his Wii games (And others I'm sure), his iPod, it's almost sad that he has to do all that just so he can go to Japan.

Depends on the advertisement.

If all advertisement was illegal here we wouldn't be allowed to post our simfiles, link to rom hacks, link to things in our signatures, talk about fan projects, and a few things like that. That'd be advertising the work the creators did. Of course this isn't against the rules.

Now this thread is simply Sonic wanting to support an artist he likes in some way. I don't know if it should be in General, however, but I see nothing wrong with the thread at all. It is like if I were to post a comic I enjoy because I would like others to enjoy it and support the artist: not telling them to enjoy it but hopefully they will and maybe buy something if the artist sells something.

Same said for music. Discussing a musician or band or what have you would be advertisement as well to get people to listen to the songs, but at the same time you just want to get people's interests and discuss them.

The advertisement that isn't allowed is flat out saying "Join this site" or "You better buy this item from this website" and such like that, where it just wants you to do something regardless of your tastes or if you actually care.

This thread is fine. Sonic wants to support the artist by asking those that like his work to buy a poster or print if they really enjoy his work. I'd do the same thing for a few other artists I know.
