I like simple layouts as well, though I also like layouts that have a lot of stuff on them in a non-distracting way (see Sukasa's layout).

My layout took a while to code, mainly because the textbox corner is attached to both the left and bottom edges; this was because I actually overlooked a simple fix for many of my errors involving it for a long time, so I'm partially to blame for it.

Something seems awkward about how the darker bricks are disconnected with the lighter bricks. Perhaps it would look better if you used a semi-transparent PNG instead.
