A few of your "unread post" markers have been reset.

I tried to fix it manually, but a few threads might have reverted to "new" status.

Mark All Forums Read would be a good idea if it bugs you.

I know the site's been going very, very slow lately. There's nothing I can do.
It has gotten rather bad recently.

I've sent a support-email. A while ago, there were a few errors...

hecate [notice] Your server is experiencing a high load at the time of the test.
hecate [notice] Your server has a consistently high load.
...
hecate [notice] Your web server has been rebooted in the last week.

With any luck, this should hopefully get a bit better soon.

There was an IP ban set on all IPs via a bug in some old code I didn't finish backporting.

This was resolved.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like DreamHost has gotten around to that support ticket yet, as my render time log shows them still being out of control in some cases.

I sent in a ticket for my Dreamhost slowness, too.

Re-edit.

Apparently it has to do with weird IO log stuff. I'm an idiot for not checking the support history.

Seems like they're working on it.

Apparently certain customers are running stupidly intense processes for no reason and they're in the process of destroying those people.

They deleted it? Are you sure?

It might not have gone though... mine's still there.

When did you send yours?

(They didn't delete mine, actually--I saw it in the logged stuff. I was just dumb and didn't look there. They answered it.)

Message from you (Feb 16th, 2008 - 19:50:37

Specifically, it's some sort of log rotation occurring 7 PM PST on this server, and appears to be a problem with certain people and even possibly the data center.

My Dreamhost server is 'fox' however so I cannot know if it effects yours. However I suspect they're similar as I see similar behavior from your site as from mine when whatever the heck it is lags everything to death.

It seems that they rebooted the MySQL server and everything is going good again.

Of course it had its peaks before :p

The slowness and high loads you have experienced are directly related to
backed up io processes with the file server your data is on. Our admins
have observed that this seems to be occurring nightly at about 7pm PST
and have open tickets with the file servers vendor open about it.
Specific customers whom were seen to be the potential cause of this
nightly issue have been removed from the file server, as well our admins
are under orders to stop any log rotation they see going on and contact
the vendor each night if they see this backup of io processes occurring
again. Each day it is hoped this is cleared up for good and we truly
believe a permanent solution will be shortly found for long term
stability with this file server platform. I am sorry for any recent
inconveniences this has caused and appreciate your patience as we work on
this stability.

Judging from the chart I have, it seems to have been mostly fixed, if not running better than it was before.

"7PM PST"? That's a weird time...

That was the same message I got.

Lemme check...

Hm. Still slow, but usable.

I guess they're still working on it.

Drag's Post #612
Sorry for my ignorance, but what do they mean by "log rotation"?

They keep logs over the past xx days, and only for the past xx days.

Stopping the rotation means they keep all of them, instead of automatically removing the oldest.

In short, they're keeping extended track of it...
