I was playing Kirby Air Ride today. I guess the whole Checklist love was rekindled, so I erased my save data and started over. As I was racing a level 5 CPU opponent on Water (Top Ride) with one lap, we were both coming around the last turn. A sawblade fell on the CPU player, and I in turn got sliced into oblivion and lost.

"Heh," I thought to myself, "I got Mario Karted."

See, in Mario Kart, I've long held a distain for competitive play for one simple reason. DS snaking notwithstanding, a player's overall success in the game relies more on what items they get than their actual ability to perform on the track. The fact that people in 6th-8th draw more Thunderbolts only reinforces that statement. As a rule of thumb, I like the Battle mode in Mario Kart a LOT better than the racing mode. If items are what makes a winner, then why not take out the whole racing business altogether?

Having said that, the same can be said for Super Smash Bros. Some people like to play in a way that their skill as a player will determine the outcome, and to minimize random occurences that will inadvertantly rule in someone else's favor. By removing items and limiting stage selection to only those with no environmental hazards, the only thing left is skill versus skill. I can see why people like to play that way.

Though Final Destination I don't understand. A lot of the game revolves around aerial attacks, so why isn't Battlefield the dueler's map? I find that one to be better for bringing out the most in people.

They've been confirmed in that magazine so I expect they'll be showing up really soon, if not tomorrow.

I noticed Goombella was in one of those screenshots. Fitting, as these stickers are remarkably similar to Paper Mario's "Badge" power-ups.

Paper Mario had a number of badges that were power-downs, depending on their effects. For example, the Power Plus Badge took six Badge Points to use, so it could be compared to a large sticker. The P-Up, D-Down Badge, on the other hand, used two Badge Points to give the same boost to attack power, but you sacrifice some defense in order to use it.

It'll be interesting to see exactly what kinds of stickers will show up. Could be anything, even something that lets you use your Final Smash without a Smash Ball.

If it wasn't 7:40 in the morning here, I'd be laughing, as this is hilariously awesome. It seems a little strange, but I can honestly imagine little kids putting stickers on the bottom of their trophy stands to make it "cooler" and "stronger". It fits perfectly.

Looks like I was wrong. But how was I supposed to ever guess about something like this?

Anyway, looks like a interesting addition. I wonder just how helpful they will be when fighting. They seem to do good stuff. That Joshua one didn't look too shabby either. +9 Attack? Sounds good.

You want 3 3rd Party characters?

Of course that is if you define characters as a character or an actual playable character. We have what? 2 weeks until SSBB comes out in japan. If they were having a new special 3rd party character that is not Konami or Sega, they would have revealed this individual already. We also have not seen a Sonic related Assist Trophy and/or how he relates into the SSE and what sort of bosses from his series appears (Robotnik?).
