i just finished No More Heroes 3 (2021)
i had played the first 2 games a bit as a kid but i was too impatient to finish them, figured this game's story wouldn't make any sense whether i had played them through or not
i think it should win game of the year this year even though it was released in 2021
EDIT: also, just thought of the fact that i haven't technically answered the thread's title...
in the middle of playing tears of the kingdom and fire emblem three houses, but
i'm going to replay the phantasy star series

I recently had the random mood to get back into Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the Necrodancer featuring the Legend of Zelda. I finally completed a run of Dungeon mode for once. I've been trying the daily challenges, but of course, I flub them almost immediately and ruin my one chance for the day. My next goal is to beat Arena mode with permadeath. I got to King Dobongo today using a fixed seed but couldn't remember how to damage him.

Another goal of mine is to listen to all of the new music that came out with the DLC years back. I'm so used to the normal soundtrack that it's weird hearing other versions pop up when I play.

A whole lot of Street Fighter 6 and Skullgirls. This is the most I've been into fighting games since high school, it feels good to be back playing em.

Been recently getting some good mileage from my PSVita, just finished a replay of Gravity Rush and now a little into Ys VIII. This is my first time playing anything in the Ys Series and so far I'm having a bit of a good time with it.

Just finished up Jedi: Survivor. It was enjoyable. By far some of the better SW content this side of the Disney purchase, lol.

It teases being a full-on Metroidvania, but the devs are too afraid of sequence breaking to really let it get off the rails. There was more than a handful of times where I found an unintended solution to reaching a collectible, only to hit an invisible kill plane because I didn't do it the "right" way.

The movement is so much fun, and I'd love to see a pure platformer built around it, but in the context of the game it's too... scripted? Being able to do a single wall walljump is rad, and makes sense for having Jedi powers and all, but there's only a handful of specific spots where you can use it.

I did it! I finally beat a daily challenge in Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer featuring the Legend of Zelda! It's not my first permadeath run completion, but for once I didn't fumble in the first few minutes! I was actually very close to beating a daily challenge as Octavo back when I made my previous post, but I ruined the run at the last phase of the final boss because I forgot what to do.


On a whim, I finally started playing Chicory: A Colorful Tale that my friend got me for my birthday last year. It's so dang cute! I'm going in completely blind, and so far the game has been a very pleasant surprise. The style of navigation, puzzles, and tone remind me of Undertale in a way. I don't know how far I am in the game, but it's very fun. I may use the fill tool to color most of the scenery, but I still enjoy the freedom to color/decorate scenery. Once I finish it, I may share some of my favorite creations.

I want to say more, but like Undertale, this seems like the kind of game where you'll have the best experience if you go in without spoilers. If you're an artist, the story may particularly resonate with you.
