the astounding thing, to me, is that in the original game the entire puzzle is RNG. that's it. you keep spamming throwing them hoping they'll eventually land right-side up. there is literally no puzzle, there's nothing to solve, you just reroll until you win. the reason it's astounding is because in Link's Awakening the puzzle design is generally pretty smart -- like, outside of this one puzzle, i seriously can't think of any other puzzle in the original game that's really annoying or frustrating at all.

in the new game, there's actually a logic to it -- and actually, figuring out how to get the horseheads to go where they should is entertaining and fun. and it still feels like the puzzle in the original game, such that i actually forgot that certain elements between the puzzles were different. for example, i forgot that the original game didn't actually have tiles where the horseheads go, you just have to get them to land right-side up.

In addition to Pokemon Picross GBC and Mario 64's Vita port, I guess I started a new game on Pokemon Yellow? Turns out the original battery is actually still holding a steady charge of just over 3V, so it should still be fine for now! No idea how my original save data got deleted then, tho. Guess I should also look into solutions for backing up GB/GBC cartridges...

But yea, Yellow - just played the beginning of the game today, up to reaching Pewter City, and have Pikachu (duh), both Nidoran, Spearow, Rattata, Caterpie and Pidgey so far.

I beat Super Metroid project base for kicks and ended up with a 54% collection rate.

It's allright and the game's much much easier than I remember.

Beat Valkyria Chronicles 1 and hopped on to VC4, I'm not 100% sold on it somehow becoming even more anime but hey, it got all the good stuff from the first one.

The only thing I don't like about VC4 is that the keyboard controls are subtly different and can't be rebound just like VC1!!!

I've pretty much just continued playing Pokemon Yellow, with the occasional PC game on my newly put together Windows XP machine (tho mostly Flatout 2 there, to be honest).

In Yellow, I'm now at Saffron City, having kicked the Rockets out of Silph Co. and cleared the Fighting Dojo, so next up is gonna be Sabrina's Gym. Party's currently Haunter at Lv 42, Fearow at Lv 41, Pikachu at Lv 40, Nidoking at Lv 36, Charmeleon at Lv 30 and HM Friend Krabby at Lv 16. Five badges, 50/151 Pokemon caught and 110/151 seen.

Usually I just play a bit of ACNH, and (if the group calls me to play) some Secret Hitler (via Tabletop Simulator) or Among Us. These are far from the only games I play (I've recently tried out Möbius Front '83), but it all depends on how much energy and time I have.

PS. Oh, I've also been recently playing ClassiCube (thanks to the Jul thread for telling me about this game) and building some stuff on one server.

Phantasy star universe got revived by the fans so I've been playing that.

I can't decide if it's a good or bad game, but it's certainly entertaining to play. To me at least.

Replying a lot of the games I played as a younger person without the brainfog I was subject to back then... it's a completely different experience. And usually for the better!
