that seems like an incredibly odd spammer. usually they're trying to promote some sort of service (even if they aren't linking directly to anything) but what's the point of posting nothing but rap lyrics?

Perhaps the idea is that they post random shit that just might make it through a moderation queue. Then once they're out of the newbie phase they start the real spamming? I know there are a lot of reddit bots that do that today, farming some cheap karma to get a reputation before unleashing their spam.

i've definitely seen bots that do that before, even on forums.

i don't think that's what was happening here, though. i'm pretty sure "The rap god" was just a doofus who wanted to post eminem lyrics and then hoot and holler to himself.

those reddit bots at least try to associate the subject matter with the subreddit they're posting in, in most forums only posting rap lyrics would be considered suspicious

was probably just someone who was bored and wanted attention, i've seen someone like that in a discord server that only posted "ROCK AND ROLL" and pictures of the abbey road cover until the admin had enough and banned them

that is actually hilarious. it's like posting pictures of Seals and Crofts album covers and going like "YEAH!!! YEAH!!! ROCK AND FUCKING ROLL!!! \m/ WOO!!!"

when i was sixteen and still banned from PureZC, i got inspired by Richard Kyanka (yeah, i know, he's a piece of shit, this was almost 15 years ago, bear with me) talking at some con about a guy named "triangle man" who kept posting pictures of triangles. at the time i thought that was really funny so i repeated it on PureZC. in retrospect i don't regret doing stupid pranks on PureZC and trolling it, but i do regret that i was so unoriginal. like, come on, that wasn't even my gag.

I mean, c'mon, Rap God is a hell of a track, but you've got eight* other albums (at the time) to pick from. Throw us some deep cuts, Backstabber is a hell of a fun track and you're just gonna sleep on that?

for some reason, mentioning Xanga in the other thread kinda made me want to start keeping a web journal again

there's a tiny part of me that wishes it could be Xanga -- i haven't used it since 2003 and i remember it having some kinda weird/neat/interesting themes that don't really feel like anything that still exists

of course i'd probably just go back to dreamwidth if i did this sort of thing, but there's still a part of me that wants to try something weirder. me and my stupid love affair with early '00s web tech...
