The Xmas theme here has been around since like what, 2001 or 2002? It's an Acmlmboard staple at the very least

I turned on the rainbow names and also adjusted the divisor it uses so that they cycle more often — modern servers render the page fast enough that they're otherwise just varying shades of the same color

It's not random, it's directly based on the current time (Which is why it cycles; it polls the time each time it fetches a color)
