I guess you probably already know about Escargot, an open-source MSN server. They are working on implementing a Yahoo! Messenger interface, they did some preparatory work for implementing Activities (games), a XMPP gateway, and maybe Matrix integration. Anyway, what they already have is Escargot Spaces.

Basically, it's Windows Live Spaces and Groups merged together, but actually it's just a custom WordPress. You can create your own site ("space") and create or join groups, add people as friends, etc. It's basically a mash-up between a social media and a blogging platform.

I know many people here are not into social media, neither I am, but is anyone interested in joining? There could be a Jul/TCRF group in there, and blogs for when you want to write posts instead of threads.
