I remember having to use Lynx instead of Links to browse it, as a result.

Of course, these days things work fine... then again, Elinks and w3m generally handle things better these days.

Elinks works pretty well... Lynx itself is really basic, almost to the point of being all but useless. Though elinks can also usually show some colors, too

I never quite figured out how to get Elinks to display in color. It just... kinda did on some systems, never did on others.

I might give it a try, though I think I might actually prefer it as-is. I'm still a sucker for transparency in terminals.

It can be good in some cases, but I agree.

I'm actually trying to figure out why I like terminals to have transparency, because it seems to cause problems for me and the aesthetic increase isn't really that big.

I had a terminal setup a while back - yellow on deep transparent blue. Looked super nice, and if I can find/recreate that setup, I'll slap a screenshot in here.

It might be the same thing that had people upset about the interface changes from Windows 7 to 8. Shiny and transparent to... flat.

It didn't bother me too much because it was so much easier to hone in on a nice titlebar color, and at least you could change that, unlike early versions of Windows 10...

It could honestly be worse, I have seen people selling surfboards on facebook forgetting about the fact that there is a bong and a grinder that have failed to be cropped out.

And on the topic of transparency I think it makes for a bit of an eyesore, scrap it for the GPU performance gain.

Yeah, I've had to retake shots a couple times because of titlebar transparency fun.

It's not usually as much an issue in terminal windows, though, considering I generally keep them on my center monitor and don't tuck anything behind them.

I'd be lost on a single monitor, nowadays. Being able to tuck some always-visible stuff onto other monitors is just too useful for me to give up anymore.

I need a new laptop sometime anyway, Apple's dropping support for the 2011 machines soon... which is a shame, it still runs fine, is in great condition, does everything I need it to.

Maybe I'll just throw Mint on it, provided it doesn't give me too much trouble.

I would use the spare monitor with this laptop... if there currently was enough space on the desk, that is.
