Getting twitter to render your profile pic nicely can be a huge pain. If you are perfectionist like me it's an afternoon of fun with old uncle twitter and his need to make everything blurry! I don't post too many pictures on twitter (or anything really.) I've been doing a picture of the day thing on my twitter this month, but quality of the processed image isn't important for it.

I'm pretty sure it's the same thing with Kirbynite, which was actually a misspelling of Kirbyite (the supposed thing that gave Kirby his power). One letter mistake that gets made permanent.

I know they definitely used a mobile sprout avatar for a while.

oh, i know, but, to wax philosophical, even if they were spelled correctly like the entity that is MobleSprout(the Acmlm user) is different from Mobile Sprout(the enemy). like none of us afaik see MobleSprout the user and assume it is the enemy from Earthbound posting.

anyway, re: Kirbynite, misspellings like that can be iconic. i think "Kirbyite" would be annoying/difficult to pronounce b/c of the /i:ai/ and a lot of ppl would end up adding some consonant to fill it in anyway.

misspellings are how we end up w/ the brand UNIQLO rather than UNICLO btw—pretty cool fact about UNIQLO, which is short for UNIQUE CLOTHING.
