As for the actual weather it's mostly all sunny, though sometimes it rains, usually taking down the temperature below norm.

It's fortunate enough I live in north Italy, otherwise 40+°C would have been the norm. Yikes.

We have our occasional 40+ day here as well! Though with the wildfires in the area the smoke has been keeping the temperature down, the downside being, y'know, the smoke everywhere. Apparently air quality in parts of BC has been comparable to air pollution in Beijing the last month and a bit.

The sun is orange today.

Please take your smoke back, Seattle doesn't want it.

came here to post this, actually! i forgot you were in Seattle too.

i don’t mind the edge being taken off the sun (the summer sun here is too much imo), but i am getting tired of the smoke, which is trapping pollutants and humidity. i just want to enjoy the beach + the trees.

We had a fire near here years ago (I think it was in California or Arizona), and it was blowing over badly enough that there were actual ashes floating around the school. It was a trip.

Shit like that is 100% stay the fuck indoors weather

woke up this morning to all my stuff w/in 6 ft. (1.83 m) of my windows covered in ashes, including a new wall-mounted drop-leaf NORBERG table i just installed.

there's no air filtering system or AC here, so i had to get my stuff + the two people currently crashing on my couch & evacuate. we went to my friend’s place down the street, which had air conditioning (incidentally, they're using my AC unit which i stored in their storage) + filtration.

i am determined to stay here until the smoke passes. luckily i am working from home & don't have to do any shoots until i'm out. but still, scary stuff. one of my roommates has asthma, so this is doing a number on her respiratory system.

& the sun rose as we walked across the ashen landscape this morning to my friend’s place, the sun was a bright orange color.

It was nice and ashy here on the weekend, then we had a couple nice days, and now it's just brown. I mean usually you can at least see a red ball in the sky, but it's been "overcast" pretty much all afternoon. One major fire came up across the BC border from Northern Washington, and there's at three or four major ones burning a couple hours North of here, so the smoke's all settling nicely into the valley.

it’s been days since i’ve seen the sky. it continues to be smokey/apocalyptic.

but today the smoke lifted a tiny bit, so i am going to venture out, see my friends, etc.

i have been holed up inside for almost a week at this point, doing nothing but play Pokémon Blue or Final Fantasy Legend 2 on my Game Boy Pocket (i think buying that NORBERG was the only time i went out).

is this gonna be every PNW summer from now on?

I hope not, ugh. I can only imagine how it's like to have that for several days, just based off of the one day many years ago we got a pretty big smokebomb from California.

My recommendation is to get a boxfan or two and some generic a/c filters; with some tape you can make a pretty serviceable air filter in a pinch. It isn't much, but in conditions like that it might be more useful.

Meanwhile, the weather here was amusing. I was on vacation for a few days; the weather down at Laguna Beach was nice and pleasant (if a little windy). On the way there, and on the way back, we passed through a thunderstorm; and when we got back last night, it was indeed raining and t-storming outside, which kinda dampened our plans to go to the pool.

Today it's just warm and muggy. It rained a little earlier, but I don't know if it'll keep doing it.

My power got knocked out by Hurricane Irma and it's really frustrating.

Also, two of the street lights near me got smashed.

Wow, the weather sounds pretty extreme over in the US (not including hurricanes, but wow to them also) lately.

Adelaide is trying to turn from winter into spring. We've had some sun and warm weather, but this week has been kinda rainy. I guess we're headed into summer, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I used to love the heat, but it's been getting so hot I'm not so into it any more.

Here too! Unfortunately the smoke covered up the last few good swimming days. Looking forward to cooler weather, though.

After what felt like weeks of hell the temperature has finally gone down to 'not bad' with a side of drizzles.

We've had a bit of that in Australia in recent years too, especially in summer. It's… pretty alarming, to say the least. I hope you're all OK, and that the extreme weather has passed.

Given long-term projections, I doubt the extreme weather would pass. In fact, it'd be more extreme.

Brace yourselves.

Meanwhile down in Henderson, we had a really end to last week and the temperatures outside are almost bearable again. It's weird. Nights are actually a little chilly and the mornings are pleasant.

It's funny how fast it's going from "A/C on nearly 24/7" to "turn the A/C unit off and open the windows". Not quite there yet, but close.
