Yep! Actually, it's even more than that: he's five weeks old tomorrow.

You say "already", but it's felt like a long time for us! That's probably because being a new family is such a huge learning curve (and also because days feel longer when nobody gets any sleep!!)

Aww… nah we're going fine, it's just that new babies are so demanding that there's not much time for anything besides baby right at the start. I've only been able to use my computer about twice since he arrived. Even now I'm posting from my phone while I feed him!

Well, we're both losing track of the days!!

Having experienced work stress, yeah, it's quite different. Sleep deprivation gives everything a strange quality, and when the baby gets upset, oh god wow. But mostly it's kinda boring, just constant. There's a lot of watching YouTube because you can't move as the baby's on you, but you're bored and hungry… and lonely nights where he wants to feed at 3 in the morning.

As for your stress, that sounds awful. Seems like some shit is pretty out of balance at the moment! I hope you can try to force a decent rest… restful sleep, some fresh air, good food, and time with friends… so you can recharge!

I was worried cuz of what you posted after he was born... didn't exactly sound great...

yeah, they're known for taking time, and like i said, it's kinda contagious. my parents and i ended-up doing a lot of baby sitting for both of my nieces... (and ugh, it still feels weird being an uncle, i'm not even 30 yet!) My sister still apparently has difficulty getting them to sleep. They're not babies anymore, though... lol!

on time/schedules:
I get a lot of crap for being "lazy" , especially from my mom. It's not so much that as I REFUSE to put myself under the exact kinds of stressful situations that are nothing but detrimental to my health, sanity, and social life. I seek balance in my life. In fact, I simply don't function without it. I also am not particularly motivated by money, so if the only thing I see my work being for is "the bottom line", my motivation goes right to the ground. As-is, I have a love-hate relationship with being in a service club. I respect the work that we do to help the community and the world, but it absolutely sickens me how much of it relies on money, and some of it just that in a world with so much surplus (and tons of which just goes to waste) that we're even doing it at all. I'd much rather focus on solving the issues that aren't bound strictly to money, but the lack of research or manpower. And back on my original topic, I don't give a damn about what money the product or service may or may not generate, it's about who i help or make happy in making/providing it. I saw an article on.. well... yahoo that explains this a lot better than I am trying to. I always subtly realized this is how I felt, but could never quite put it to words. Point is, I don't want this chaos and feeling of utter helplessness and worthlessness that most people have gotten locked-into. I also feel bad that there are some jobs that if I can manage to be lucky enough to get into, my money problems are basically gone, while millions/billions of others live in poverty, with absolutely no hope of getting out. (especially since they'd never be accepted into a high or decent paying job)

Yeah… it was a difficult labour. I didn't really have my head around what had happened at the time I posted here (besides being freaked out about it), but I do now so I can explain better.

I had to be induced, because the baby was late. Things seemed to be going well (although very quickly… husband says I speedran the labour) but it was an obstructed labour. We had something called a shoulder dystocia, which is an obstruction where the baby's shoulder gets stuck behind the pelvic bone during delivery. Basically the baby's head can come out but they get stuck after that. It's an obstetric emergency and can result in death or serious injury to both mum and baby.

He managed to be OK, although a bit stunned. He had a little trouble breathing at first, and they had to check him over for complications, but he was all good. They kept him for observations in the nursery for a few hours before I got to see him beyond the few seconds I saw him after birth.

I wound up with some complications though. Right after the baby was born, I lost a shit load of blood in a very short period of time: a 2.5L (5.283 US pint) post-partum haemorrhage. I gotta be honest, this was some pretty fucking scary shit, and I thought that was it for me. When you lose that much blood that fast it's kinda… yeah. It freaked out my husband as well, understandably. I didn't help by telling him to take care of our son (I was worried about him and yeah I also thought I was going to die). My parents also arrived at the delivery suite right as everything had gone pear-shaped, so I scared them too. They were there with the alarms going off and they were told they could see the baby, but not me, while doctors and midwives ran around.

But, like I said on the night, the doctors and midwives were excellent. They were great throughout the obstructed labour and the post-partum haemorrhage, and they did everything right to make sure that both the baby and I were OK. When I started bleeding, they all moved very fast to get me stable again, stitch me up, and all of that. So yeah, that's what happened.

I got a little bit of time to post that night, but I was very freaked out and tired, and then in the morning we started with the business of trying to take care of a new baby. Learning to breastfeed is super hard. I also couldn't get out of bed for several days after the birth, because of the bleed, and I needed an iron infusion to make up for all the blood loss. After a few days in hospital I was well enough to go home and then I REALLY had no time for anything because there weren't any midwives to help me out any more.

So… yeah. That's what's been up with me. Now that he's nearly 5 weeks old I'm starting to get slightly more time to do things like eat and shower and post this here explaining what happened!

Oh, if you want to see him, he's basically taken over my Instagram account since he was born.

So, I generally fully oppose censorship, to such extremes many (especially in an ever increasingly 'PC'/sterile world) wouldn't approve. Shit, some would most likely have me incarcerated if they could.
However, there are things that generally shouldn't be discussed in public forums. Likewise, those forums usually disallow such topics. I can say that VG-res doesn't... but they have a double-standard as for what is alright to say. I got chewed-out by one of their more abusive mods, followed by basically the rest of the community for saying/asking something far less extreme than what this one mod had talked about. Anyways, this stuff doesn't generally bother me (well, in the offensive sense, hearing about these nasty things happening obviously doesn't make me happy)

Anyways, since these kinds of things might offend someone, or "god forbid my child (who probably watches porn or rated R movies when i'm not around) reads about something like this online!" This is what stops me from submitting such content to deviantart...

As for anything more specific about what I've experienced, or my DA identity, I could share via PM if you'd like? After what shit happened on vg-res, I just don't want anyone knowing those identities right now.

In other news... stuff keep on happening. Some responsibilities on me I'd rather not have, as I keep on pretending to be a person capable of doing things. A long standing community of friends is experiencing turbulence; I put an effort to stay a good person throughout. Meanwhile, I'm still sorting out my own feelings and trying to figure out where I'm headed. I sign up for stuff having no idea how it will play out. I seem to be a fan of adventure, though. Things are yet going to get interesting.

Okay, no. You did nothing wrong. You had a child, and you had complications which you thankfully managed to get through. You didn't upset me. I just... tend to say stuff to people, and then things go badly for them.

You didn't do anything wrong. You just had a baby! There's nothing wrong with that! I'm just an idiot who doesn't know how to deal with screwing up. So don't worry. Just look after your kid.
